Crema's Take

Nestled on Ames' Main Street, this Ukrainian bakery pairs meticulous pour-over coffee with extraordinary house-made pastries and sourdough that reflect genuine craft and fresh ingredients—think spinach-raspberry cake and chocolate-pecan ganache alongside savory options like Gouda sourdough. The intimate, cozy space and genuinely warm team create the kind of slow-coffee experience where you can taste the care in every bite, from traditional Eastern European baked goods to their carefully prepared specialty drinks. It's the rare spot where both the coffee and the pastry deserve equal attention, making it worth lingering despite the limited seating.

Everything is excellent and amazing straight across the board and I don't know these people from Adam's cat. I just bought a loaf of high end bread from a very well-known Ames shop last week and it isn't even close to as good as this. I'm not trying to kiss up. Straight facts.

Super cute little Ukrainian bakery on Main Street - very small and somewhat limited seating but the chocolate/pecan/ganache ball we tried was super delicious and rich. My mom also said the pourover coffee was really good. Overall would recommend!

This is an incredible bakery and team of people! Everything, from the sweet to the savory, is delicious. Their sourdough breads are out of this world. If you’re a savory pastry fan, you will not be disappointed by the big selection of veggie, cheese, and meat filled puffs. So good!! They are a wonderful addition to the downtown community.

Piece and Freedom Bakery is certainly a great asset for the community of Ames. They serve traditional Ukrainian baked goods.I find the sourdough bread to be very good, especially the Gouda and Green Onion.

Very cute little bakery/cafe run by the sweetest people. I tried their Spinach Raspberry cake and it was amazing. You could tell how fresh the ingredients were and how much care was taken to prepare the food. The ambience was really cozy and they managed to pay homage to their Ukrainian roots in the best way.
