Bread N’ Chu
1900 Clement St, San Francisco, CA
Crema's Take
“Tuck into pillowy milk bread sandwiches at this petite San Francisco spot beloved for its Instagram-worthy red storefront and adorable pig branding—the egg salad and katsu varieties are standouts that justify the hype, even if portions skew bread-forward. It's a grab-and-go operation run by a family business with no seating, perfect for fueling up between neighborhood adventures with quality that draws people back year after year.”

Yummy sandwiches in a sweet tiny storefront. Loved the egg salad and the katsu.
I came here a few years back and was craving a milk bread sando so I stopped by today and got the egg salad and my bf got the chicken katsu. Both 10/10 bread, flavor etc! This is also a family business with really kind people running it. I was honestly shocked it wasn’t busier, def a hidden gem. People complain abt the prices but this is San Francisco and they are serving artisanal quality sandwiches.. will definitely return next time I’m in the area
This place is small and doesn't have a sitting area. It's just intended for you to order and go. I don't understand the hype about this place. The sandwiches are small and very thick at the same time. Everything falls apart so its kind of difficult to eat. The flavor was ok, i didn't hated the sandwich but there was nothing impressive. Overall I feel that the price is too high and the product is not worth it.
Came across this on a bike ride and loved the catchy red exterior! The branding with the pig is super cute. The sandos are THICC though it's more bread than filling. No indoor or outdoor seating. Everything is to-go. I got the Tonkatsu which was pretty solid. Crispy and the katsu and kewpie mayo mix was good. They use very soft Japanese milk bread. Would try the unagi next time though it's pretty expensive. Sandos usually are quite cheap in Asia so this was a surprise but I guess it's SF ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is a nice cozy spot. The pricesbfor the meal are steep. I had the tonkatsu sandwich, it was not bad. The fried batter was nice and crispy but the meat was average quality. The bread was soft and chewy. Also had the strawberry sandwich. The cream was more of a custard. I didn't think the strawberry sandwich was worth trying.
