Crema's Take
“Tucked inside a boardshop in Madison, Broken Board Coffee is a refreshingly unconventional spot where you can browse skateboards while a barista named Jared works his magic on your cup. His seasonal creations—like the viral-worthy Sweet Potato Latte and inventive drinks like Thai Me Up—showcase serious creativity and flavor precision, while their pour-overs consistently impress even the most discerning coffee travelers. It's the kind of place that feels like a genuine local discovery, where the laid-back boardsports vibe pairs perfectly with genuinely excellent, thoughtfully crafted coffee.”

Broken Board Coffee has my heart. Jared is the best, I call him a flavor potion-ist because he concocts some of the most unique, divine seasonal specials (Thai Me Up, Hide Tide, and Sweeet Potato are a few favs). House-made syrups. Quality ingredients. Local bakery treats. Lovely humans work here. It's a fun space to pop in or hangout for awhile. Fun design & branding & merch.. stickers, pins, two of my favorite t-shirts are from Broken Board. This place is truly a gem in Madison.
I was lucky to stumble on this place while looking for coffee on a road trip last week. The baristas were so lovely and the pour-over I got was *incredible* -- like, world-class. I took a sip and literally said aloud, to no one, "wow." I haven't had a pour-over that good outside of Norway. I'll make a point to return the next time I'm passing through!
Are you kidding me? A coffee shop inside a board shop. Ahh yes plz! Such a novel idea. The coffee is seriously fantastic! Seriously. Sweet potato latte was so damn good.
What an absolute gem! This shop perfectly combines the thrill of boardsports with the comfort of great coffee. I stopped in for a quick break and ordered the sweet potato latte, and wow, it completely blew me away. The flavor was rich, earthy, and perfectly balanced, with a freshness you can taste in every sip. The barista’s latte art was a beautiful touch that made the experience feel extra special. On top of that, the atmosphere is so cool, a mix of snowboard and skateboard culture that feels welcoming and inspiring. Whether you’re into boards or just hunting down amazing coffee, this place delivers on both fronts. I’ll absolutely be stopping here every time I travel this route. Highly recommend checking them out if you want top-tier gear AND coffee that rivals the best cafés.
A skateboard store and coffee shop in one. I ordered a pour over coffee and browsed around while it was being prepared, there are various board merchandise for sale and the boards come in a lot of cool designs (availability may vary from time to time). The drink came out faster than expected, I am usually prepared to wait a long time for pour overs. I forgot the name of the exact pour over flavor but I chose one of 3 randomly and really liked it. Friendly service 🛹
