Crema's Take

Trung Nguyen Legend Coffee World brings authentic Vietnamese coffee culture to Philadelphia with an impressive range of traditional and creative specialty drinks, anchored by their genuinely excellent Vietnamese coffee. The second-floor lounge is a beautiful, spacious spot for lingering with your laptop or meeting friends, though you might want to grab a seat away from the sunny windows if you run warm. Between the knowledgeable staff and solid pastry selection, this feels like a destination worth revisiting once the opening-day crowds settle down.

This was a neat new place to check out. I am not a coffee fan so I tried the coconut matcha & honestly did not like it. (Im working on expanding my palate and trying new things!) I’m sure some people like it - it was a very pretty drink. My boyfriend got the Vietnamese egg coffee & he liked his. He also tried my drink & said it was okay but he was not a huge fan of the coconut flavor. We saw online that they had a food menu but when we went we were told all they had were a few different types of croissants so we got the ham & cheese and the sausage croissants. I didn’t think to ask what else was in the ham & cheese croissant because I’ve had them other places before and it’s literally just ham & cheese but this one had a very spicy sauce inside and I would not have ordered it if I knew that as I do not care for spicy foods. We also did not think to ask if the croissants could be warmed up so they were rock hard and cold when we bit into them. Overall we would not come back since there are so many other spots for coffee in the city but this is definitely a unique spot for coffee lovers! I see other reviews for the second floor & when we asked about the second floor dining we were told it was closed that day so maybe we will try to go back and go upstairs! *edit - I wish I could reply to the owner! Thanks for the response, we will definitely be back to try more things!

I’m reviewing for the second floor lounge cafe experience and food/drinks there. First off, it’s a beautiful space to work at and I love the environment. It’s a tad warm though with the sunlit windows and heat but I can imagine it getting popular. The drinks are fairly standard with the sets being popular. The Vietnamese coffee is strong and bitter but an experience you’ll have to try once. The other fruity drinks are well decent and beautiful however. It’s a bit sugary for the non tea options like the Pomegranate Apple spice drink. My favorite has to be the matcha cloud coconut but it’s really light in both matcha and coconut! Overall, food is okay— I was sad my strawberry pastry did not look so fresh when it was served. I probably should have said something to the staff. The other savory sandwiches are light and filling though. Service wise, I wish they served more water regularly as I felt a bit dehydrated despite having my ordered drink. If that was regularly served, I’d really appreciate the cafe service too. Everyone is kind but it is confusing at first to order your food upstairs only. And food that is served has a service fee on top of what you might expect to tip thereafter.

This Vietnamese coffee shop just opened recently, and I’ve had two very different experiences. I came during the first week and the line was extremely long, hours just to order and service was very slow, so we left. I gave it another try recently, and it’s much better now. Service is very attentive (maybe a little too attentive lol), but overall good. Drinks are tasty, though they’re on the sweeter side. My favorite is the pandan tea with foam. I’m excited to come back and try more drinks, especially the egg coffee since they specialize in authentic Vietnamese coffee. Love the upstairs space, clean, nicely decorated, quiet, and lots of tables for studying or working. Overall, big improvement and I’ll be coming back!

Pro: Beverages/food: A LOT of choices, varieties for drinks and choices of bakeries. The Vietnamese coffee is really good. Service: friendly staff, knowledgeable and patience. Atmosphere: awesome, cozy and spacious. I love the touch of authentic stuff/decoration around the place. Cons: price. Then again, things are getting expensive everywhere. Cost almost $10 for 1 drink. Be prepared to spend if coming here.

I went in grand opening day and had a great experience! The wait was long, but to be expected. It’s by far one of the best specialty viet cafes in the city, neck and neck with caphe roasters in Kensington. We got the salt, egg, and almond coffees and enjoyed all of them. It is pretty pricy, but it’s definitely worth a visit when you’re in South Philly!!
