Commonplace Coffee

Crema's Take
“Commonplace Coffee excels at what it does best: pouring exceptional drip coffee and crafting thoughtful espresso drinks in a calm, focused workspace that's perfect for solo work or meeting a friend. The space has an understated charm that rewards regulars, though service can feel inconsistent—sometimes you'll get a barista who's genuinely invested in finding your perfect drink, and other times the vibe is more reserved. If you're after quality coffee and a quiet corner to settle in, the strong brew and solid seasonal offerings make this a worthwhile Pittsburgh stop.”

Pro- drip coffee is very good, wait time is quick. Con- the people working there are not friendly or welcoming. I've given this place a shot multiple times... all hours of the day any day of the week I've had a customer experience that makes me feel like I don't want to go back. I enjoy coffee & hearing about what the baristas like or recommend or if they have sandwiches or their hours... and every time I feel judged for trying to connect with them. If they improved how they treat their customers I go there more often for their coffee.
I have never gone there before until recently and will be back! The barista working was able to help find me the perfect latte based off my taste. His recommendation was the right combination of sweet and bold.
I come here pretty often because the coffee is great, it's close to my office, and I love the space. That being said, my coworkers and have an ongoing joke that the service is... not the friendliest but the coffee is too good to quit. Also, the cups throw me off. The lids to the cups are not sturdy and low quality. And the cold drinks are placed in hot drink cups ):
Sitting back and relaxing with a cup of Joe. Very calming atmosphere. Not the most comfortable seating (ouch! My butt) but is very private to working solo around others doing the same. There is comfy seating in the back (A couch and chair) if it's not already taken. Perfect for spreading out and doing some school work.
We come here often to work from the cafe! I really love their coffee, especially the seasonal drinks! The place is comfy and there are a few outlets available for charging your devices. I wish the seats were more though, and the seats close to the door could sometimes get really cold with door opening often. Overall, it’s a good experience!
