Crema's Take

Hidden behind the Sonoma Cheese Factory, this BBQ spot has mastered the art of the casual lunch destination with a speakeasy charm that keeps locals coming back. Their smoked meats shine in inventive sandwiches and the legendary Brisket Burrito, while the vibrant patio overlooking the town park is perfect for lingering with a coffee and pastry after your meal. It's the kind of place where you'll want to share everything with whoever's sitting across from you.

The Butcherman BBQ is an absolute gem in downtown Sonoma. It’s a bit of a "speakeasy" vibe for food, you have to enter through the Sonoma Cheese Factory to find it. Their sandwiches are incredible and well worth the drive from anywhere in the Bay Area. I’m a huge fan of the Tri-Tip; it’s tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned.

Found my new spot in town. The Butcherman Brisket Burrito is quite possibly the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. Looking forward to my next meal here

The store located across the town park. There are few dining tables on the vibrant patio for enjoying the local street scene. I really like their homemade ice cream and salads. The salads mixed with a variety of cheeses taste special.

Another trip here and not disappointed at all. We would highly recommend that if you have 2 or more people to split the sandwiches and share. You will be so happy to get the best of more than just one sandwich melting in your mouth. We got this time the brisket, the BLT, and the Turkey sandwich. All were superb in flavor, freshness, presentation, all the above. They also have a wide range of specialty drinks, so don't miss out and grab one to go along with your meal. We just love stopping here every time we are in the area. Park at the town park and eat, then stroll the shops around the park. It's so lovely, and there is history right there, too. We also bring and ice chest because they have some really good cheeses in the same place to buy. So don't miss out and stop in, you won't be disappointed. Next time we are getting the ribs.... 😉

BBQ in a Cheese Shop—A Must-Try in Sonoma! Follow the irresistible aroma and the sandwich board out front, and you’ll find this hidden gem. 🍖🧀 Order at the counter, and while you’re at it, grab a beer. 🍺 The ordering process can feel a bit disorganized, and it’s not entirely clear how or when your order will arrive, but trust me, it’s worth the confusion. They’ve got the meats! 🥩 These sandwiches are piled high with tender, flavorful barbecue, living up to the sign’s claim of being the best BBQ in Sonoma. The food is served takeout-style, so after picking up our order, we grabbed a table out front to enjoy it. They also offer restrooms, which are a nice bonus after a day of travel. If you’re strolling around the square, make sure to pop in for a sandwich. You won’t regret it! 🥪🔥
