Malelani Cafe

Crema's Take
“Malelani Cafe is a warm neighborhood gem in Philadelphia where the espresso rivals the best in the city and the Mediterranean food—think perfectly cooked Shwarma chicken bowls and tiramisu worth raving about—keeps regulars coming back. The genuine hospitality from staff and live music a couple times a week create the kind of place where you're equally happy grabbing a quick smoothie or settling in for a long lunch with friends. It's the rare café that nails both the coffee craft and the food quality while making everyone who walks through the door feel like family.”

Met a colleague here for lunch and was met with a friendly smile and quick service. The coffee is great and the food is spectacular. I had the Shwarma Chicken Bowl. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the rice was delicious, and the tahini dressing was amazing! I will be back to try more anytime I'm in the area. We sat outside to work and the street noise was very good even with steady traffic at the intersection. The patio was gardened and the tables and chairs were comfortable for lunch and a meeting and a little work afterward. This is a great location for a casual lunch for business or personal.
Nicest people on the block! also the best espresso in that part of the city and tiramisu to die for. Always feel healthy and happy when I leave here. Also they have live music couple times a week and the open mic is super welcoming
New to the neighborhood🧡 #Lunchtime #EatLocal Great menu and great service. Smoothie Options were great. 🫐 The best black bean hummus I’ve had on this side of town. #WarmPita #Winning I’m looking forward to visiting experience the live music. 🎶
This place is awesome! They give you delicious, flavorful food and big portions. I really enjoyed the Chicken Bowl.
Stopped in with the family for a quick lunch after a Google search for Mediterranean food. The menu online looked good, so we thought we'd check it out. It was incredible! The food was fresh, flavorful and authentic. The chef/owner was very friendly and hospitable. The other employee was extremely soft spoken and we didn't really hear/understood what he said as he brought us our drinks. Our interactions with him were limited and we were able to tell what was who's based on how it looked. Our group of four ordered 1 appetizer, 1 bowl, 2 platters and a pita sandwich. Three in our group ordered specialty iced teas. It was plenty of food despite us all being quite hungry and we even took home some leftovers. The spanokopita we ate at home was to die for. Not one single menu item was average or disappointed us. It was all delicious. My only two complaints are that 1) we don't live nearby to come here more often and 2) a tarot card reader stationed in the restaurant felt out of place (hence the 4 for atmosphere).
