Point Break Coffee and Drive Thru
520 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC
Crema's Take
“Point Break nails the laid-back Charleston coffee shop aesthetic with a genuinely cool vibe and standout matcha that locals rave about, though the kitchen and counter service could use some consistency work. The drive-thru and grab-and-go options are convenient when they're running smoothly, but expect occasional waits and the occasional mixed-up order, so it's best appreciated as a place to linger rather than rush through. If you can catch them on a good day, the relaxed energy and thoughtful food options (including plenty of Fulton-free choices) make it a solid neighborhood spot for meetings or solo coffee contemplation.”

Coffee is great but the wait time is always extremely long. Placed a pick up order that was due 9:19am and only got my drinks at 9:29am. Then what’s the point of a pick up order? Also they made the drinks of others who came in after us first
Cool coffee spot with a laid-back vibe. Great place to grab a drink, hang out, and enjoy the atmosphere. Service was solid and the space has a relaxed, easy energy to it. Just a heads up, don’t go too late if you’re planning on getting food, as options can be limited later in the day. Overall, a nice spot to stop in and unwind.
Initially this place was a vibe and felt like I found one of my new favorite coffee spots. However the vibe quickly changed once your inside and start dealing with staff. The girl at the register obviously did not want to be there and appeared to be working the front register as well as the drive thru window. And I am not sure who the older lady was (maybe one of the owners?) but she did not give anyone any warning or heads up she just shut off the lights and started telling us to leave as they close at 12pm on Wednesdays. Which is fine however she continued to rush us all out like she was herding cattle. I walked up to the register to ask if they had stickers or decals to put on my laptop, car, etc. and before I could even ask she again shouted "We are closed now!" so I didn't even get to ask. Coffee was good but service not so much and for that I personally will not be back. Especially when Muddy Waters, Dawn Patrol, and Huriyali are all close by and provide not only better options but an even better atmosphere.
As a long-time customer, I’ve noticed changes in food quality and drinks. I have expressed my concerns via email, especially about my to-go orders often missing toppings. Never a response or offered refund. The fruit also tastes like onions and spice (uses same cutting board) and the coffee isn’t that great.
Best matcha in CHS! Lots of Fulton-free options for food which is great. Super cute atmosphere. I wish the barista said your name or put it in your cup because I accidentally grabbed someone’s else drinks and good thing we figured it out before I sipped that drink.
