Lorene's Ranch House & Coffee Shop

Crema's Take
“Lorene's is a beloved Bakersfield institution where breakfast and lunch feel like a family gathering, with hearty skillets (the chorizo version is a must-try) and fluffy pancakes that keep regulars coming back for decades. The casual, unhurried pace makes it perfect for lingering over coffee with friends or settling in with the kids, and the homemade salsa that arrives with your meal hints at the care put into every plate. It's the kind of place where you can taste that they've perfected the simple art of a satisfying breakfast done right.”

Breakfast perfection found! 🍳 The chicken skillet was delicious, just wished for a bit more chicken. The pancakes are delicious. My kids loved their hamburgers and fries. The lemonade was absolutely perfect and a new favorite! 🍋 Prices are affordable, the staff is nice, and the place is clean.
My husband and I decided to try Lorene’s for the first time. We went on a Thursday morning, at about 10am. It was a little busy but we were seated fairly quiet. I got the chorizo skillet, I wish it had more chorizo, but other than that it was very good. My husband got the French dip. He said it was good! The biscuits and gravy were good too, I wish it had more sausage! Coffee was hot, and the service was fine! We didn’t wait very long and they were kind wholesome we waited for our food. We spent about $38 in total for two meals and two coffees.
Lorene’s has been here for some time. In the past I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here. It has always been pretty good food. Currently they only are open for Breakfast and Lunch. I ordered the breakfast sampler plate. Comes with bacon 🥓, hot link, eggs any style, hash browns and French toast. It was really good, couldn’t eat it all. The only thing disappointing was the French toast wasn’t very warm, nevertheless, I ate it. Kathy, my waitress did a wonderful job, she was a pleasure.
We had gone there on March 12, 2020. We had a long ride and we were a bit hungry. My brother ordered the the Chili Verda Omelet abt 13 dollars. The Chili Verda was delicious, But I was way too hot to enjoy and along with it came some type of fried potatoes and he said they were good. Alo what came with that meal was 2 biscuits and a white gravy. My brother said they were funny tastings, he said like they were old, he did not eat them. I just ordered 2 scrambled eggs and I asked for 2 pcs of crispy toast. Well when I got my food my toast was not crispy and I made them make me some new ones. My scrambled eggs were ok. But the coffee was water down. I would like to know why we can't go to a restaurant and not get a decent cup of coffee? We would love to have a cup of coffee that is going to wake us up. We have gone to many restaurants in Bakersfield and all we get is watered down bitter coffee. Does anyone in this town make a good cup of coffee with the food we order?
I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good. I had thr chorizo plate and it was delicious. They give you this yummy salsa which is actually spicy. I didn't like the chicken for the kids. They didn't greet us when we walked in. I'm getting use to it but its always nice when they do greet you.
