Crema's Take

Function Coffee Labs has been a beloved neighborhood fixture near Philadelphia's Italian Market for over a decade, earning a devoted following for their meticulously crafted pour overs and in-house baked goods that locals swear by despite their rustic appearance. The team here takes their espresso and slow-brewed coffee seriously, offering an impressive pour over menu with thoughtfully sourced beans alongside comforting classics like their standout London Fog, all served in a comfortable space that feels equally welcoming whether you're meeting a friend or settling in solo. It's the kind of place where the friendly service and genuine passion for coffee quality shine through in every cup and homemade pastry.

Cool coffee shop located just a block away from the Italian market in Philadelphia. Plenty of coffee options and comfortable seating inside. The London fog had great flavor.

Friendly place that has lasted more than a decade and offers high quality coffee beverages. They make their own baked goods (they look a little sloppy but are well regarded by locals) as well as their own oat and almond milk. Worth the trip. Although it is small with seating for about a dozen people the turnover is quick and during warm weather there is outside seating and you can always go across the street to Bardascino Park that has a bocce court and great shaded benches

I recently stopped by this place a few days ago and couldn't resist bringing a friend along this time. My friend is a huge coffee lover and has quickly fallen in love with their decaf Americano, so we decided to grab a light bite to eat together. It's a beautiful Sunday today and the place was bustling with people both inside and outside on the sidewalk, and even across the street at the little park. My café espresso Americano was exceptional, and my friend ordered a dirty chai latte which also hit the spot. We opted for the avocado on toast with pickled red onions and chili pepper flakes, and we were pleasantly surprised by the large portion size. They don't skimp on the avocado here - unlike other places where you might just get a swipe, they really load it on generously, all for a very reasonable price of around $10. We decided to share the avocado toast, and we were both very impressed with the quality and taste. This charming little place has definitely won us over, and we are already planning our next visit back.

They have a really great pour over menu with a lot of variety and they brew it perfectly. Service is very fast too. They have variety of both sweet and savory baked goods. The almond scone was massive, if not just a little on the sweet side for me.

We were visiting from out of town and were looking for specialty coffee shops and found this gem that had an interesting pour over menu with interesting coffees. I got a very processed coffee - double anaerobic semi washed thermal shock - and it had very interesting flavors. I enjoy exploring the breath and depth of coffee and the coffee served here certainly helps on that journey. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed sitting for a few minutes. Definitely recommend!
