Crema's Take

Daily Coffee is a Richmond cornerstone where a "quick coffee run" has a way of turning into a leisurely meal, thanks to their irresistible blend of specialty drinks, creative dishes, and genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're settling into their outdoor seating for a leisurely breakfast or grabbing something from their thoughtfully prepared pastries and light menu, there's a warmth here that keeps locals and visitors alike coming back—even if your wallet didn't quite expect the visit. The generous portions, reasonable prices, and attentive service make it feel less like a trendy spot and more like that rare place where you actually want to linger.

Wanted a quick and healthy bite. Ordered the Superfood salad with falafel. It was good but it was not enough dressing and should have been tossed in the dressing to ensure all the hearty pieces of kale were coated. The bartender Emma was awesome and attentive. The campfire old fashioned and Yuletide Chai were DELICIOUS.

After shopping at my favorite tea and spice shop across the street, we headed over for some lunch. Really nice restaurant with good service and food. Pictured below, my Blackened Mahi W/sweet potato fries and a delicious aioli sauce. The mahi was moist and blackened perfectly and the sweet potato fries are the way to go, fried perfectly and not limp. My wife’s Buddha bowl was not as good, the beet hummus was perfectly balanced, allowing the beet flavor to come through. The roasted chickpeas were dry, would be better in their natural form, her grilled chicken, which was extra, was slightly overcooked, but fortunately not dry. The kale was cut too large and was not flavorful, the bowl was so-so. I do recommend this restaurant, just don’t order this particular bowl.

“The Daily: Where Richmond Goes to Feel Healthy… and Accidentally Spend $78 Before Noon.” The Daily Kitchen & Bar is the only place where I walk in promising myself “just a coffee” and somehow walk out with avocado toast, a Buddha Bowl, a wood-fired pizza, and the spiritual clarity of someone who just paid extra for tempeh bacon. First of all, the menu is longer than most rental agreements. You want vegan? They got you. Gluten-free? Covered. Paleo, dairy-free, pescatarian, oat-forward, quinoa-based, spiritually aligned cuisine? Absolutely. The Daily feeds every diet except the “I’m just here for a cheap meal” diet. Let’s talk food: The Bread Pudding French Toast tastes like a cinnamon cloud hugged you and whispered, “You deserve nice things.” The Steak & Eggs made me rethink my entire relationship with breakfast. Honestly, why haven’t we been eating chimichurri at 10 a.m. all along? The Hot Honey Pizza is dangerous in the best way — like a rom-com love interest with red flags you ignore because the chemistry is too good. And the Crispy Brussels Sprouts? They should come with a warning label: “May cause personality shifts. You will brag about Brussels sprouts now.” Service is always friendly, even when I’m panicking trying to choose between a bowl, a pizza, and something that includes beet hummus (because apparently I’m that person now). And yes, I absolutely add the optional protein every time. Chicken. Shrimp. Beef. Salmon. Why? Because I love myself… and also because they wrote “eco salmon” and I don’t know what that means but it feels responsible. Bottom line: Come for the health food, stay because you have already emotionally committed to three entrees. The Daily isn’t just a meal — it’s a lifestyle, a personality trait, a financial decision. 10/10 would return tomorrow morning pretending I’ve never been here before.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Visiting Richmond for the Half Marathon this weekend. Stopped by The Daily on Cary St. Funny enough, I lived here for a couple years in my 20s and this place was only about a 40-minute walk from me—no idea how I never came before. The host/server was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Broccolini to start and the Glazed Salmon (with jasmine rice, ginger bok choy, kimchi, gochujang glaze, sesame, and scallion — GF). The salmon was excellent: a bit salty, but really flavorful, and the kimchi + glaze combo worked great with the rice and veggies. Broccolini was solid too. Overall, quality meal and good service. Would definitely return when I’m in the area again. Last visited: Nov 13, 2025

We dined outside on a beautiful day, and the umbrellas did a good job of keeping the sun from broiling us. The food had generous portions and reasonable prices, no complaints about that! Service was a bit disjointed, we had several servers but none of them introduced themselves and there were long gaps when nobody checked on us. A pleasant experience overall though, and we'd come back again because the flavors were amazing.
