Crema's Take

Fresh Market Cafe is a genuine Southern comfort food spot in Brandon where the kitchen takes pride in details like offering to recook your catfish if it's not fresh enough. The warm, no-frills atmosphere draws regulars back for homestyle classics like turnip greens, fried okra, and jalapeño cornbread, making it the kind of place where you feel like you're getting a home-cooked meal without the work—though consistency and value seem to vary depending on when you visit.

I used to eat here all the time along time ago. I stopped in today for a quick lunch. I got the fish plate. Desert and drink and it was $21!!! Way overpriced. Fish was cold. Desert come out a box. Nothing special at all for $21. Unfortunately I won’t be coming back here and don’t recommend here. The food wasn’t just terrible but $12 is what a blue plate lunch should cost.

The staff is always friendly and quick with service. Food is always tasty. Prices are very fair! This is our go-to for a "home cooked meal" that we don't have to cook!!

We are new to the area and tried this place. I ordered the catfish. Even though there were a few pieces in the pan, they asked if I would like fresh cooked. It was delicious and the sides very good. My friend got the meatloaf and he said it was excellent. I went another day and had a great experience. Again, fresh cooked catfish and excellent sides. My wife and fellow worker loved their food. I went by this morning and got a smoked link sausage biscuit. Excellent! The restaurant was very clean. Nothing but good to say.

I tried to give them another chance for their new breakfast after I was given inedible meatloaf. This is what I paid $10 for. I asked were the eggs cooked to order and they said yes. These are clearly eggs out of a bag. Maybe they did cook them fresh, but I always thought cooked to order meant real eggs out the shell, not the bagged eggs. My hash brown could’ve been so good, but it was hard and dry. The only reason I’ll give them 2 stars is because their desserts are really good to me, but nothing else. This is the 3rd time I’ve eaten here and I won’t again

Truly a southern gem! They have all of the southern classics you could ask for- turnip greens, fried okra, Mac & cheese, black eyed peas, jalapeño cornbread, etc... everything we tried was SO good and felt like home. The rosemary baked chicken and the fried catfish were top notch! On top of that, the servers were extremely kind. We will be back! :)
