Crema's Take

Northern Coffeeworks is a sprawling Minneapolis favorite that takes its espresso seriously, with standout pour overs and creative drinks like their maple oat latte that keep folks coming back despite occasional service hiccups. The spacious layout is genuinely laptop-friendly, with outlets lining the right side of the shop and generous free refills on regular coffee, making it an honest choice for long work sessions or casual meetups with friends. Fair warning: the staff can feel aloof at the counter, and weekend crowds can make seating a game of musical chairs, but once you're settled in with a well-made coffee, the reasonable prices and solid atmosphere make it worth the visit.

Staff is not welcoming or friendly. You walk up to the register and they just stare at you. No Hello? Welcome in? How are you doing? What can I get for you? Nothing… Ruins what could be a really great place. They are more interested in chatting with eachother than acknowledging the customer. The coffee itself is good, and the price point is a bit cheaper than others. Overall decent, but they absolutely need to work on their customer service.

Northern Coffeeworks is great for meeting up with friends. Though it seems tends to be quite busy and it can take time to be able to sit down after you order. I ordered the Skillet Hash flavors was awesome came out super hot and fresh, I would actually order it again but the potatoes were kinda undercooked that's my only complaint about this dish. 100% recommend!

This is a cute coffee spot with tons of tables to chill or work from. The whole right side has outlets so folks can charge their laptops/phone while they work. Yummy coffee - try the maple oat latte. I really enjoyed the gift shop they have built into their shop. Hikers will have a great time here!!

This place was really busy on a Saturday afternoon and parking was tricky. Once you're inside there's lots of places to sit but there were few spaces left. It's not terribly noisy but it's also not really what I would call cozy. I tried a decaf latte that wasn't decaf at all and the roast was mostly burnt. It wasn't terribly expensive but with the roast being not great and the decaf not being decaf at all I probably wouldn't go back. It seems like people really like this place so you make your own decisions.

Really good coffee and cool atmosphere. Very spacious inside did not feel crowded at all. Price was reasonable. And if you get just a regular coffee and want to hang out free refills. They also have lots to look at and things for sale. When I was there there was someone selling vinyl records kind of cool. That gets busy at peak times but the staff is always on top of it. They even have water and cups good dehydrate as you drink coffee. Cool place to check out if you're into coffee and coffee shops it's a unique place!
