Revolution Roasters
2956 Roosevelt St, Carlsbad, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked in the charming Carlsbad Village cottages, Revolution Roasters stands out as a thoughtfully executed specialty coffee destination that takes its espresso and pour overs seriously—a refreshing alternative to the usual commercial chains with genuinely unique seasonal offerings and a hip, modern vibe. The cafe strikes a welcoming balance between being productive-friendly for laptop work and intimate for catching up with friends, with ample outdoor seating and parking that makes Saturday morning visits manageable despite the occasional queue. What really sets this spot apart is the care in every detail, from fresh-baked food made on-site to an espresso-focused menu that invites you to slow down and savor rather than just grab and go.”

I went on a Saturday morning around 9am. It was about a 30 minute wait in line but they were moving fast and there was still plenty of seating (and parking) since the other restaurants in the cottages were not open yet. I got monkey break and a morning bun to go, as well as a butterscotch latte (so good and not too sweet). They have a full breakfast menu with creative options so I’ll check that out next time. It’s a great morning spot worth checking out.
A very quality coffee shop to get a “real” coffee beverage in a sea of Starbucks and commercialized coffee options. The vibe is hip and modern, and the seasonal offerings are very unique and very good. A winter flavor that really hit was the orange vanilla pine latte. I avoid carbs but hubby had it and it was really balanced and creative. They sell cute and functional merch as well as the beans! They roast a spectrum from light Ethiopian to medium Mexican, to espresso roast and mix of medium and dark. Decaf, too, I observed- processed minimally. Bonus- the food looked very premium. And the Pop Pie is right next door. I have to admit I was there twice in one day – I didn’t mean to, it just made sense the way my day was going. I guess that means I definitely would, have already returned!
The matcha latte was good, but why was it the most expensive drink on the menu? They only offer drinks in one size, unless you order an espresso drink which comes in a mini-shot-sized cup. Decent drinks and really nice patio/seating/atmosphere. There were lots of dogs and small children which made it lively outside. It seems a lot of people come here to socialize with groups of friends. Free parking lots near the cafe which was a pleasant surprise.
Revolution Roasters is a great place if you need some peace, comfort and a good cup of coffee. My boyfriend and I came to the cafe today with some friends who were visiting California. We agreed that it was the perfect spot to get coffee and food to start our day before giving them a tour of SD. I've had different types of toast/pastries throughout SD/North County and this place has some of the best. Not only was everything refreshing but all the flavors were complimentary. Additionally, the service was amazing. Everyone there was so kind and inviting. The food did take a bit of time to get to our table but it was worth it. Plus, the drinks were ready very quickly.
I like this little coffee shop right in the heart of Carlsbad Village. The food menu is a little bit limited, but everything is fresh-baked and made on site. Which I really do appreciate. coffee is a great quality and delicious. There is plenty of seating in the back patio area behind the coffee shop
