Crema's Take

Steelhead Coffee is a sun-drenched Long Beach refuge where serious espresso craftsmanship meets genuinely welcoming baristas and a vibe so good that regulars have essentially moved in. The space itself is a character—beautiful natural light pouring through generous windows, thoughtful plants, great music, and plenty of room to spread out whether you're working, meeting a friend, or just settling in for the afternoon. They're experimenting with seasonal syrups like cafe de olla in their cappuccinos, and while pricing skews a bit high, the quality and atmosphere seem worth it for those seeking a cafe that feels less like a pit stop and more like a destination.

My second home and office. Great music, plants, atmosphere. Excellent baristas and coffee ☕. I used to like rotating to new cafes in other cities or neighborhoods I lived in. But now, I just go to Steelhead, almost everyday.

This cafe has a truly beautiful interior and is wonderful to study in. There’s easy parking too. The barista was really friendly. I tried the seasonal cafe de olla syrup in my cappuccino, but it tasted acidic more than anything else. I tried to drink more to see if I’d like it—the barista had mentioned the syrup was a blend of spices including orange zest. But as a former barista, the more I drank it the more I thought it tasted like an under-extracted shot of espresso. She was super nice about remaking a drink for me, and said that it was a controversial flavor. I asked for a vanilla cappuccino, hoping it would be a safe bet, but it unfortunately had the same strong acidic flavor profile. I couldn’t really taste vanilla. So that makes me think it was a matter of the espresso itself. I felt too bad to ask for a third drink. Everything else about my experience was really lovely - the WiFi was strong and there were plenty of outlets. But I just want to let management know that there could be improvements on how you dial your shots. Or maybe you use light roast beans? Either way it wasn’t for me, but I appreciate the great service and atmosphere.

Great coffee spot! Perfect service, delicious coffee, affordable with lower prices then nearby coffee places. Open and spacious, with beautiful light. Lots of seating, with beautiful window tables and a new back section with comfy booths. Perfect place to spend a few hours reading or working. The barista was friendly and made the best latte I’ve had in a long while. They’re adding a juice bar soon.

Like others, cute place, way to expensive and nothing anyone In my party wanted to come back for. Girl was very nice but im not coming here and paying 13 a latte because you need extra shots, alternative milk and then flavor. Oh then the that's not enough because they want you to tip lol.

The aesthetic of the place is awesome, the light, windows and the music are very cool. Coffee wise I haven’t tried something that I would come back for, I got a chai with coconut milk for 6.50 and it’s was ok. Its a great place to work they have WiFi and the ambience is chill
