Stevedore Bakery
402 Passage Way, Savannah, GA
Crema's Take
“Stevedore Bakery is a casual Savannah spot that leans hard into buttery, indulgent breakfast sandwiches—think bacon, egg, and cheese on impossibly fresh croissants—paired with solid traditional coffee and matcha that keep regulars coming back. While the bakery's focus seems to have shifted away from its bread-making roots toward these meaty, high-fat morning offerings, the friendly staff and genuinely delicious chocolate chip cookies make it a reliable grab-and-go destination for families and friends looking to fuel up before exploring the city.”

Overall, this is still a solid spot to get coffee and matcha. My husband and I always make a stop here when we visit Savannah and it’s not as cozy, warm, nor as clean as it was in precious years. They used to have better seating that included couches, and both bathrooms were in need of some serious help. The food is still good and fresh (we had the turkey caesar and the pimento turkey sandwiches on our last visit), and while the staff was kind, the warmth wasn’t as permeating as it used to be. Overall, it’s worth a stop on a less beaten path for a drink and good sandwich while visiting this side of town.
I ordered The Chipolte Turkey Club. Very appealing. The ingredients where fresh and tasty. Staff was nice and Friendly. Don't skip on the chocolate chip cookie. Delicious
This is kind of an odd bakery. They do make bread and some baked goods but they mostly deal in high fat/meat breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The croissant I had was extremely oily. The sandwiches all have meat or cheese or both and eggs. I would have liked something more simple and plain and maybe a cold pressed juice or smoothie? Basically, there is nothing approaching healthful here, which was disappointing. I did buy a huge country loaf for $11.50 and that is pretty good. But I should be able to just get toast and jam or something lighter than what they offer currently. As for ambiance, they do have outdoor tables. Inside is usually very crowded. The service is friendly enough and quick. But it's confusing because you order at the counter and they don't deliver to your table. Very dog friendly, like most of Savannah!
Our food and lattes were absolutely delicious! We had the bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and the croissants were super fresh, buttery and delicious. One of the best BEC sandwiches we’ve had. The lattes were also delicious and if appeared they may even use their own homemade syrups. Highly recommend and looking forward to coming back when we’re in town.
Went with a friend for breakfast and was blown away with how yummy it was! We both got bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches and lattes. Their decaf was good, and the sandwiches super fresh. What really wowed us was how delicious our pastries were (Chocolate Croissant; Coffee Cake) it was the best croissant I have ever had (even one in Paris!). Service was good, would go back.
