Crema's Take

Tucked away on Guadalupe, Amity's is a wonderfully quirky refuge where you can sip creative signature drinks like their standout Sarsaparilla Latte while surrounded by funky vintage decor, a jukebox, and arcade machines that make it feel like a hidden speakeasy. The late-night hours and karaoke setup make it perfect for lingering with friends, and the cozy, laid-back atmosphere wins fans over even if the service can be a bit hit-or-miss.

So happy I happened upon this spot because the decor and vibes are so nice in here. I tried the Sarsaparilla Latte which was very unique and quite tasty. The fact that they don’t charge you extra for alternate milks was the cherry on top!

The bald guard person is very standoffish and borderline rude. I was really excited to check this place out bc they have karaoke and coffee and the atmosphere just looked 10/10. Upon my friend and I entering we were abruptly stopped by man and harshly asked for IDs. We were more than welcome to give him our IDs but before we had the chance he then said “No outside beverages allowed”. Totally understand but #1 I saw people studying in the outside patio with the same water bottle I had and #2 there was no reason to be hostile to 2 teenage girls. We entered calmly and happy to try out this new location. He also didn’t even try to help us like “you can leave your water bottles in this corner” just flat out “you can’t have that here”. Again I understand these rules BUT WHY SO RUDE…he didn’t even offer a solution to his potential customers. Also, if he’s supposed to be guarding the entrance why was he at the bar watching the performers. His attitude totally turned my friends and I off. The reason I am writing this is bc my friend and I were genuinely excited to come after a long day of studying and for him to be rude was just so unnecessary.

It’s a real place! I saw their sign on the sidewalk on Guadalupe that read along the lines of, “The coolest coffee shop you never heard of,” and thought it was funny so I decided to take a look. It’s behind Hole in the Wall and is basically a hole in the wall itself. I wasn’t sure where to go and was probably looking very lost when a kind voice called out and asked if I was looking for Amity’s Coffee. They were on a bench next to the entrance of the coffee shop. Apparently I’m not the only one who got lost on the way there. Basically, you just walk down the corridor of the outdoor patio where all the benches are and the door is to the right of the benches. Inside, it feels more like a bar than a coffee shop but I really liked it. There’s a ton of seating inside and the overall atmosphere is really nice. They also have a spot for karaoke that the barista said is available at night. I got a 12 oz hot latte with vanilla and oat milk. It was very good! I would highly recommend trying this place out. The prices were super reasonable and the barista was so nice.

The place was super cozy with unique, funky decor, a jukebox, and arcade machine, so be sure to come with coins! All of the drinks are absolutely delicious! It’s a little like a speakeasy hidden past the gateway and the picnic tables. Definitely worth the visit.
