Crema's Take

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters offers a genuinely welcoming escape tucked just off Encinitas' main drag, where the staff's graciousness and extensive outdoor seating make it ideal for lingering over work or conversation. Their espresso-focused menu shines brightest with pour overs and traditional drinks, though some customers find their milk drinks lean heavy on dairy—this is the spot to order black coffee or skip the elaborate flavors and let their roasting speak for itself. With a cozy courtyard vibe complete with a small fountain and plenty of natural light, it's the kind of neighborhood gem where the experience of being there matters as much as what's in your cup.

Fast service and really great employees! They were being heckled by a cranky old man when I was last in there and they handled it with absolute grace, I had to come here and commend them on that. I was already a semi regular but will keep giving them my business based on their fantastic handling of that alone!

Ordered dark chocolate hot mocha. Couldn't taste much coffee, no dark chocolate either. Not much flavor! Need to learn how to make it! I'll stick to Better Buzz BEST mocha!

The staff was very nice. The coffee was meh. Our group all got different drinks but all agreed they were more milky than coffee and minimal flavoring. It was hard to tell the difference between the mocha with cinnamon and spice, and the hazelnut latte.

Cool place with lots of tables. I didn’t like my single original cap though. It tasted a bit burnt.

Tucked right off the main street, this spot has a super cozy feel. There are only a couple of indoor tables, but tons of outdoor seating, making it a great place to study or work. The small fountain adds to the chill vibe. I ordered a latte (which was just average) and a bagel with cream cheese. The food and drink came out quickly, but the ordering process was unnecessarily slow—despite having three baristas, the line moved at a crawl. I’d come back for the ambiance, but not for the service.
