Crema's Take

This beloved Mechanicsburg bakery wins hearts with their donuts fried in beef tallow, a distinctive technique that delivers a noticeably lighter texture and deeper flavor that regulars keep coming back for. Beyond the pastries, they've built a loyal following for their traditional coffee drinks and fresh breakfast sandwiches, making it the ideal quick grab for folks who want quality over convenience. The consistently warm and helpful service keeps people returning, though their coffee execution can be inconsistent—they're really the donut destination here.

Today, I ordered a coffee and a dozen donuts. The coffee was awful. Whoever made it didnt know what they were doing. I’ve been here multiple times to pick up donuts, coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The food is always good. My favorite donut is the coconut custard. Its usually busy and the ladies at the counter are running around assisting customers. I wish there was more seating indoors.

So we came in for the first time yesterday. I’ve been following you all for a while and was so excited to get some treats for today. We got some normal doughnuts as well as some fasnachts. Sadly we were not very impressed. My chocolate peanut butter one tasted like cinnamon? The fasnachts tasted like lemon. And the Boston cream pie one got thrown away. All of them had a strange taste, very hard to explain but it wasn’t good. None of them tasted like they should either. Maybe we just got a bad batch? Maybe something was off? We’re from a different town, maybe our donuts taste different? I wouldn’t discourage anyone from going here, but I don’t think we will be back.

Went on Christmas eve for our second time to grab donuts bright and early, was pleased with the selection but this most recent time trying we were not pleased with how soft of a fry the donut has. It's missing texture now, this is specifically talking about the cream filled ones as that was 95% of our dozen order. Before, it felt like they were a little more chewy in a good way. I'm not sure if we will be back which is disappointing because the flavor is definitely there!

Heard a lot about Dough n Joe, the donuts fried in beef tallow. Well, you can definitely taste the difference. Very light but packed with flavor. Servers were super polite, very helpful during a busy Christmas Eve. Check these donuts out!

I love that there are more locally owned bakery starting to show up in the area with fresh donuts and a wide variety. This place is great. They had so many different options and the service was fantastic. The donuts were fresh and they were good. Very fluffy and large. Update: we placed our second order online and they didn't have all the donuts apparently that we ordered so they literally were making them fresh on the spot when we got there! That's customer service! Hopefully you can open a spot in Carlisle!
