George + Kin's Diner

Crema's Take
“George + Kin's Diner fills a room with the kind of warmth that makes you want to linger over breakfast, though inconsistency in execution—particularly with their pancakes and hash browns—suggests they're still finding their footing in the kitchen. When they get it right, like with their homemade granola bowls and salmon melt, the generous portions and quality ingredients shine, making it worth a return visit despite the premium pricing and counter-service setup.”

I am begging please revise how you make your pancakes. We went in for my sisters birthday on May 3 and 3 out of 6 of us ordered pancakes. 1) they were undercooked 2) they didn’t taste like buttermilk pancakes (as a diner establishment the pancakes have to be a signature dish!) 3) they tasted like they threw white wine into the batter likely because they were “buttermilk pancakes” they probably added too much baking soda into the mixture which reacted with the acid in buttermilk and gave it an unpleasant tangy taste. Not one of us took a bite of those pancakes. None of us left full it was quite unfortunate for how expensive it is. However, George’s Meat and Potatoes was delicious. The beef with the chili oil was yummy! The baked potato was good as well. My only complaints are that I didn’t receive garlic bread instead I received a slice of toasted bread and the waiter almost forgot and I needed to remind him about the garlic bread. For the seasonal side I received some kind of Sautéed chard which was not yummy and seemed silly to have on the side of the steak bites because it didn’t complement the rich steak flavors. Please consider another veggie especially for the price your customers pay for this $30 meal. As far as service it would be appreciated that when your waiters come to the table they anticipate the guests need. If they see an empty soda pop glass or drink ask the guest if they would like a refill? The way the service is done here is already impersonal because you order at the door and the waiter/waitress drops off food. Anticipating the needs of the guest needs improvement is the best feedback I can give as a server myself.
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was too disappointing to ignore. I planned my entire day off around a nice breakfast with my wife and grandson, and it fell far short of expectations. Since we weren’t familiar with the menu, we had to order at the counter, which already made things feel a bit impersonal. After placing our order, the food and coffee were brought out but that was essentially the last time we saw any service. We were charged for extra vegetables in an omelette that never made it onto the plate. No one checked back in, not even once. I had a single cup of coffee and was never offered a refill. To make matters worse, I wanted to surprise my wife with a slice of lemon meringue pie something she loves but I had to go out of my way to ask for it. By that point, the experience had already gone downhill, and we were ready to leave. Honestly, I’ve had better breakfasts at Denny’s for a fraction of the price. Extremely disappointed. Don’t believe everything you see on social media.
Too expensive! $18.00 for a breakfast that you have to order at the counter. Asked for crispy hash browns (they weren't) and only 2 slices of bacon??? Friends chicken sandwich was literally dripping wet with coleslaw dressing and the chicken was overcooked, but cold. Husband said his eggs Benedict was good. They are newly opened and were busy so hopefully they'll get it together. But come on, throw another slice of bacon on that plate!
Went to George + Kin's Diner for the first time today. The line was out the door when we got there just a little bit before 11, but it smelled so delicious there was no way we weren't going to wait. The line moves pretty well and that's because service is spot on and quick. The portions are generous so either come hungry or plan to share (like we did). The Eggs Benedict was wonderful. The hollandaise was almost whipped and creamy with a nice lemony freshness to it. We dove in so quickly that we didn't even take pictures. We are definitely coming back
Been here twice, salmon melt was delicious, as was the granola bowl for a breakfast. Home made granola and lots of fruit with big portion sizes on all the menu items. I will be coming back regularly
