Coco and Hazel
2733 McRae Rd, Richmond, VA
Crema's Take
“Coco and Hazel is a vibrant Richmond spot where creative seasonal drinks and boozy milkshakes steal the show, but the real magic is in how they blend coffee culture with dessert indulgence—think affogatos next to cinnamon rolls and chipotle chicken sandwiches. The space has that coveted slow-coffee vibe perfect for lingering with friends or celebrating something special, and while the baristas can get slammed during peak hours, they're genuinely warm and invested in making your visit memorable.”

This was our first time visiting and it was well worth the visit! I tried the seasonal boozy milkshake and got to enjoy the minty treat after a slight delay. The baristas were super busy, so no issues there! Maybe in the future, they’ll add some more comfortable seats, but there were plenty of places to sit and enjoy my time there. My husband was excited about the different non alcoholic drink options, so we will definitely be back!
The coffee was well made, but the cookie was a little dry for my liking. The employees were really sweet and quick. Creative drinks and milkshakes, so def a fun way to have coffee and explore flavors. Kids would enjoy it to.
I was in town to celebrate the holidays with my girlfriends. The cinnamon roll and affogato were the best part. It took almost 20 minutes to get the coffee flight and it was lukewarm when it was delivered to the table. They seemed short staffed so there were tables that weren’t wiped down so guests didn’t have too many options to sit. The overall holiday ambiance was beautiful though.
Beautiful coffee shop! My wife brought me here for a birthday brunch and it could not have been better. We both had one of the Chipotle Chicken Sandwiches which were excellent, and I got a seasonal coffee flight that was Halloween themed. Each drink was unique and delicious, and the high quality coffee they use really shines through the other complex flavors. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I are big ice cream lovers, and since moving to Richmond, we’ve been on a mission to try all the local spots. Coco + Hazel has definitely stood out! The vibes here are fantastic—plenty of indoor seating, adorable decor, and lots of “Instagram-able” spots if that’s your thing. I ordered the deconstructed coconut cream pie, and wow—just look at the picture! The presentation was stunning, and it tasted even better than it looked. My husband went for a waffle cone with cookies & cream and coffee & cream, and he hasn’t stopped talking about how it’s his favorite coffee ice cream so far! The menu is filled with unique and creative desserts, so we can’t wait to come back and try more. The service was also wonderful—the lady who helped us was so sweet! Definitely a must-visit for any dessert lover in Richmond.
