Crema's Take
“Tucked into Hilo, this bright yet cozy café pulls off the rare trick of being both a serious espresso destination and a genuine community gathering spot, complete with local musicians playing during their accordion brunches. The thoughtfully decorated space pairs impeccable coffees—reviewers rave about everything from cortados to affogatos—with fresh, inventive food like avocado toast and egg-hummus plates that match the care you'll taste in every cup.”

We had a Cortado, Latte, Avocado Toast the Lone Star and everything was top notch but especially the coffees. Barista++ Thanks so much and highly recommend.
Tried the Affogato for the first time and absolutely loved it. We also ordered the Hilo Sunrise along with the egg, avocado, and hummus plate, and everything was fresh and enjoyable. The food overall was great. The only downside is that there aren’t many dairy-free options available right now, I hope they add some soon. Overall, a lovely experience and would definitely visit again.
Came for accordion brunch! First time at Coffee Notes and was very pleased with the ambiance and food. I love that they invite local musicians to play here. Shared a couple bagel sandwiches with friends— everything was delicious. Dragonfruit soda and cold brew were great too. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice spot to hang in downtown Hilo!
Best coffee I’ve had on the big island, by far! Super happy that this new spot exists. It’s bright but cozy inside, thoughtfully decorated, a 12 out of 10 perfect cappuccino & friendly staff. I mean just look at it… you need to go here and try one. Simple cafe snack menu, and they do full food popups and music events throughout the month. Looking forward to checking more out here, the events seem really well curated. They even have a little second hand clothing rack and sell $1 records in the back. With so many mid or low tier options in Hilo I really hope this banger gets the support it deserves.
Went to this shop to get some work done. Walked in to no line, but a flustered employee. She was telling the other employee how much work she had to do. She didn’t address me, but when she finally looked at me I said “I’m not in a big hurry!” She replied “good because it’s going to be at least fifteen minutes til I can get to you”. I sat down and waited for things to lighten up for them to order (only a couple came in - but they had back log apparently). I ordered - she told me they were out of cow’s milk, so would I like oat or almond. I said oat and she up-charged me for it - even though I wanted a whole milk latte! Then she disappeared. I waited twenty minutes before going up and asking for my drink… no one came in the meantime, but they never made my drink. Once I got it it was average at best for a $7+ plain latte.
