The Caffeine Element
376 W 10th Ave, Columbus, OH
Crema's Take
“Tucked away in a library location that rewards those who seek it out, The Caffeine Element serves up reliably tasty drip coffee and iced drinks alongside fresh pastries and light lunch options—all at approachable prices. The spot shines as a laid-back study haven and meeting place where you can settle in with your laptop, though the experience seems to hinge heavily on who's behind the counter that day. If you catch Jen on shift, you're in for genuinely warm service that elevates the whole visit.”

I called to see if they have a bulletin board where local small businesses can post their business cards, and without any explanation, they said “ stop calling this number” and hung up on me. I thought that was rude.
Good convenient coffee. The branding doesn’t make sense though. It is called the caffeine element but caffeine is not an element it is a compound. They even double down on this branding by displaying the chemical formula for caffeine on the door, which is clearly composed of multiple elements. Normally fine ok I get it but this place is attached to a library on a college campus. The pun is too much of a stretch to pull off.
This was a nice place for a coffee while walking through campus. You probably won't know that it's there in the library unless you're looking for it. I only had a drip coffee, but it was tasty, and the staff who served it were friendly. They have a small, somewhat cramped seating area, but there were seats available when I stopped in.
Iced coffee was delicious and the muffins always hit the spot! Unfortunately, on numerous occasions I’ve overheard a worker with black hair make rude remarks about customers and even other staff. I hope they do something about her attitude :/
Jen, the manager of this coffee shop is the best person ever. Food and drinks: 5 stars. Jen: a billion stars. Drip coffee is delicious (and effective). Lots of pastries and little lunch items. Affordable and right next to the hospital, and connected to the Health Sciences Library. Did I mention I love Jen?
