Refuge Coffee - Midtown

One of my favorite coffee shops in Atlanta! I had inadvertently run into the shop when it was pouring outside and found a hidden gem. Refuge is a less frills coffee shop - no special foams or crazy drink flavors. (Granted they usually have three or so seasonal specials.) But what is delicious is their coffee. The base is delicious, so a lavender latte (or what have you) is even more delicious. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere great to get work done in or to chat. And perhaps the best part of this shop is that it is a non-profit with the goal of helping resettled refugees and immigrants - something we can all get behind. I have never gotten food from here, so I can't speak to that, but I love their coffee.

Neat coffee spot with a view of The High Museum of Art. The caramel frappes was fair. The mushroom quiche was actually good. The location of this place and view is the selling point.

Coffee was good and the fall drink options were a nice touch. Unfortunately, service felt a bit immature — our server seemed more focused on socializing than taking our order. Not terrible, but it took away from what could have been a better experience. With a little more attention to service, this place could really shine.

Refuge Cafe is in a great location, right in the heart of Midtown, steps from the High Museum. I’ve been there a few times and the coffee and drinks are solid. The atmosphere is nice enough, especially if you’re just stopping by for a quick break. That said, it’s not the best place if you’re trying to get work done. They don’t offer their own WiFi, and instead direct you to use a public network, which didn’t work for me at all, especially in their outdoor space. I also wish there were power outlets in the outdoor seating area. I had to cut my visit short once because my laptop died. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a quick drink or meetup, but probably not the best option if you’re planning to work remotely.

Great coffee shop with great mission! I tried the iced chagacino and it was a very pleasant surprise. Wonderfully balanced and with a nice hint of the mushroom flavor. The almond croissant we had was also delicious. Plenty of seating outdoors and indoors as well.
