Crema's Take
“This Boise gem pairs meticulously crafted French pastries with serious espresso in an atmosphere designed for lingering—think curated pastry cases and intentional pacing rather than rushed transactions. Their croissants earn devoted repeat visitors and early-morning lines, earning comparisons to specialty bakeries across the region, while the espresso-focused drinks hold their own alongside the exceptional baked goods. There's a reason people visit twice in a single trip and wish they could return more often: it's the kind of place that makes specialty coffee and pastry feel like a genuine ritual rather than a transaction.”

When we’re in Boise, we always make a stop at Janjou Pâtisserie. The pastry selection is intentionally curated, not overwhelming, just a thoughtful lineup of beautifully crafted options. We make it a point to try something new each time, and every visit delivers. The flavors are layered, balanced, and memorable. There’s usually a bit of a wait, but it’s by design. They only allow six customers inside at a time to make sure everyone gets the same relaxed, unhurried experience. It doesn’t feel rushed or chaotic, which is rare. On our last visit, the pastry chef and owner came outside, introduced herself, thanked everyone for waiting, and explained why they keep it to six guests at a time. It felt genuine and intentional. The care they put into both the pastries and the customer experience makes the wait completely worth it. If you appreciate quality over quantity, this place is a must-stop in Boise.
If there were more than 5 stars, I would give it to them! Amazing baked goods, great coffee, and fabulous service! In our short visit we went there twice and I wish we could be there more. The photos are from our second visit. No matter what we took, it was all amazing.
Worth waiting in line for these croissants and coffee. Arrive early so they don’t sell out of your favorite pastries. These croissants are much better than the local Gaston’s Bakery croissants.
I love this place! Everything is delicious! The only thing is that there's always a line (it's good for the business but for me is hard to do it with babies). I wish I could go often. It's pricey but worth it.
I'm on a quest to find the best Croissant in each of the places I visit and Janjou Pâtisserie was my place to try in Boise. I went in with high expectations because of the reviews and I was not disappointed. I only tried the Butter Croissant, but the entire selection looked amazing. The Croissant was buttery and flakey and had a wonderful texture. Each bite was a joy! Janjou's has certainly set the bar high in Boise. And compared to other bakeries in the US, it ranks way up there. I'll be back for more next time I'm in town.
