Crema's Take

Nestled in a beautifully converted church in Hood River, The Riv Cafe is a wonderfully quirky spot where espresso-focused coffee meets comforting slow-sit vibes and unexpectedly excellent food, complete with charming architectural surprises like an organ tucked into the bathroom. The scones are wonderful, the biscuit sandwiches genuinely delicious, and the rustic, warm atmosphere makes it the kind of place where you'll want to linger over a smooth cup and soak in the character that's woven into every corner.

The Riv is a quirky fun find. It’s a beautifully converted church that has kept so much character. We loved the decor—especially the hilarious and unexpected surprise of an organ in the bathroom (complete with hand-washing instructions on it!). The food was incredible. My husband said the biscuits were the best he’s ever had, which makes sense given their WiFi password is a tribute to them. I had the black bean patty with avocado and egg, and it was delicious. For drinks, the vanilla caramel tea with burnt brown sugar cinnamon was perfectly crafted. A nod to their limeade with a salty touch and fresh lime pulp. Yum! My husband also noticed the Riv artwork and thought it said "Rio" (River in Spanish), which adds a nice layer to the name either way you see it. It’s well worth the stop or the drive if you're in the area. We can’t wait to come back and bringing our biscuit lover family to enjoy.

Went for lunch on a rainy Tuesday. Pretty quiet inside, which I liked. I got the spicy miso noodle bowl and it was comforting in that warm, steady kind of way. Broth had depth, not just heat. The staff was mellow but not checked out. No real complaints, just wish it was closer to where I live.

TLDR; super sweet spot with some really good biscuit sandwiches Food- we ordered one of the biscuit sandwiches on the menu with bacon on the side, and I have to say that it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were so good, the biscuit was crumbly but held everything together really well at the same time. The iced mocha was really nice too. Atmosphere - given that this place used to be a church, I love that they’ve preserved as much as they can. The porch outside also looks like a really nice spot to work.
