Crema's Take
“Marta is a beautifully designed San Diego gem where serious espresso meets thoughtfully crafted pastries, all baked fresh in-house daily. The space strikes that perfect balance between Instagram-worthy aesthetics—think natural light, charming color palettes, and tables adorned with mini flowers—and genuine functionality, making it equally welcoming whether you're stopping by for a quick cortado or settling in for hours of focused work. Their specialty drinks, like a perfectly balanced matcha that avoids bitterness, and creative offerings like jalapeño scones prove they're willing to take risks beyond the standard menu.”

I’ve been passing by this place wondering what the heck it is so I had to stop by on my morning walk. The cafe itself is very cute, simple yet modern. The service was quick and efficient. Plenty of seating inside and outside as well. The pastries all look delicious and I appreciate the menu being limited and straight forward. It was a little pricey, especially for the drink quality, but I’d come back to try other things on the menu. Food/drink review: Iced chai latte: (3.5/5) It was pretty good but I literally had 3 sips and it was all ice. Not worth the $7 I paid for it honestly. Chicken mole croissant 🥐 : (4/5) It was unique. Flavor profile was interesting, but the more I ate it, the more I enjoyed it. It’s filling. Recommend getting it warmed up.
One of the best coffee shops in SD. It has it all, good espresso, good specialty drinks, great house made fresh baked pastries, great natural light, gorgeous color palette, a vibe that fits a chat with friends, work on your laptop, or reading a book and friendly staff. I’ve been to probably 80% of coffee shops in SD which is pure insanity. And I have to say Marta is 10/10. Only thing I think could use improvement is their outdoor seating area, just needs a little more sprucing up to bring the beauty and vibe of the inside to the outside as well.
First time at Marta and I really liked it. The matcha is great, sweet without being bitter, which is hard to find. It’s a really nice spot to bring your laptop and get some work done. The space feels calm and comfortable with a lot of natural light. The only thing I’d love to see is more places to charge, but overall it’s a great coffee shop and I’ll definitely be back.
Nice little coffee shop with tasty treats & beverages. Pastries are delightful with tons of flavor. Almond croissant & Chai Latte were amazing! Jalapeño scone has all tongue tickles but isn’t too spicy. Iced Latte was okay, but coffee tasted bitter and it was very small for an iced latte. Building was clean soft lines and gives off clean European vibes. All in all, giving a 4.5 out of 5
Wow! This is an awesome spot to work from. Plenty of seating, nice open atmosphere, and a charming aesthetic. The tables are lined with mini flowers. The pastries are mostly made in house. I tried the Apple cinnamon scone and it was delicious. Not too sweet and would pair nicely with an americano. The design and artwork stands out. Great air conditioning and enough restrooms for when the coffee hits. The baristas were kind and helpful. There’s outdoor seating as well but it’s mostly in the direct sun. Indoors it’s bright but shaded.
