“Maximum Zen's owner Donna has built a vegan-forward menu that's so thoughtfully crafted and delicious it converts even non-vegan customers—the chocolate raspberry cake and spicy mushroom tacos are the kind of dishes people drive across town for. The pastries and desserts are exceptional (including a vegan lamington that tastes indulgent, not virtuous), and the cafe draws a warm, intentional crowd looking to linger over really good tea and conversation. It's the rare specialty coffee shop where the food completely equals the drinks, making it worth a visit even if you're not ordering espresso.”
