Magdalene Religious Goods and Coffee Grotto
836 E 3300th S, Salt Lake City, UT
Crema's Take
“Nestled within the breathtaking Cathedral of the Madeleine, this coffee grotto offers a uniquely reverent space to linger over your drink surrounded by soaring architecture, stained glass, and the serene energy of a historic 1909 Roman Catholic sanctuary. The woman running the adjoining gift shop brings genuine warmth to every visitor, making it feel less like a transaction and more like a conversation in a sacred space. It's the kind of place where a slow coffee becomes meditation, and the building itself becomes part of the experience.”

Beautiful Church 😍❤️ came for Mass and it was so lovely! There's a little gift shop downstairs and the woman running it was so nice.
Beautiful cathedral! I didn't even know Salt Lake has this, but it is a historic building from 1900. It was open on a Friday when I went and it had no charge. It was not crowded at all!
Gorgeous church. It is good that Jesus is portrayed more like he probably actually looked rather than the usual rockstar version. I thought Mary with her hands-raised seemed to say "whatever," or ""heck if I know what's going on," but I suppose this is a praise pose.
Salt Lake City, Utah USA The Cathedral of the Madeleine is a Roman Catholic church in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It was completed in 1909 and is the cathedral, or mother church, of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. It is the only cathedral in the U.S. under the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene. The Cathedral, under the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene, is the mother church for Roman Catholics in the State of Utah. Construction began in 1900 and was completed in 1909. The cathedral combines a predominately Romanesque exterior with a Gothic interior. The exterior of the cathedral remains substantially the same today as it was in 1909, except for the addition of a tympanum over the main doors and the double flight of steps leading to the main entrance. The Comes interior, begun in 1917, was inspired in great part by the Spanish Gothic of the late Middle Ages. Colorful murals were added at that time, as was the dramatic polychrome evident throughout the building. The ornate reredos shrine of St. Mary Magdalen and the various shrines were notable features of the Comes renovation.
A beautiful cathedral with a amazingly beautiful altar. The stained glass is awesome. I'd love to hear the pipe organ but I'm only in Salt Lake City for two days.
