Crema's Take
“This beloved Exeter institution is built on the foundation of exceptional housemade soups paired with thick slices of their celebrated anadama bread, a combination that keeps people coming back devotedly. The energy here strikes that perfect balance between quick-service efficiency and leisurely comfort—whether you're grabbing lunch to go or settling in for a longer sit, the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere welcome you either way. It's the kind of place where genuine care in every bowl and slice of bread creates regulars who genuinely miss it when it's gone.”

Fantastic bread and soups. Greatest customer service. The place was packed on a Sat around noon and yet the order came out quickly, hot and delicious.
Packed joint! The line moves quickly, and there's plenty of space to wait and hang out while waiting for your food. It's worth the wait! The chowder was delicious and if you get a cup or a bowl it comes with your choice of bread. I had the anadama and it was scrumptious. We also got one of the molasses cookies which was chewy and soft and also delicious. Highly recommend for a hearty lunch! I also brought home a loaf of the honey white bread which we are loving toasted with butter.
When you order a soup, it comes with your choice of a thick, homemade slice of bread—and you can truly taste the care that goes into both the soup and the bread. The anadama bread is amazing, perfectly hearty with a slightly sweet, rich flavor that pairs so well with the soups. The clam chowder has excellent flavor. While it’s on the runnier side rather than super thick, the taste more than makes up for it. Every bite is comforting and full of classic New England flavor. Hands down, this is some of the best homemade soup on the Seacoast!
