Crema's Take

Laurel Market is a beloved neighborhood corner institution in Charlotte that's earned its reputation as a sandwich destination, where you can either build your own creation or choose from their board of expertly crafted options like their legendary chicken salad on rye. Beyond the stellar sandwiches and fresh breakfast offerings, it's the casual, community-focused vibe—with an open kitchen, friendly counter staff, and that authentic market atmosphere—that keeps locals returning after 15 years, though recent ingredient changes have given some longtime fans pause. With limited seating (just a couple of benches outside), this is a true grab-and-go gem that doubles as a cozy spot to linger over coffee and conversation.

I regret to drop a star. I also loath negative reviews… that said, after like 15years of sandwiches, the quality of ingredients has changed. They probably got a new distributer or something and it’s likely not their fault. It’s changed. I love Marty and everyone who works there. Sometimes the tomatoes are not great.

Awesome spot for sandwiches and you can build your own. Open kitchen, prepared salads and sandwiches, order at the counter, BYO options, super friendly staff. No indoor seating, only a couple benches outside makes it a grab and go situation. Can’t miss!!

Excellent sandwich counter with reasonable prices. The chicken salad on rye is the best chicken salad ever for like $10. The Curry Tuna salad is also very good. Sandwiches are stacked high, with fresh ingredients, vegetables and fresh homemade bread. Try to get there early because it gets busy around lunch time. Great little store with unique beer and wine options, fresh brewed coffee and a lot more. This place is a gem.
