Crema's Take
“Paddles Coffee is a beloved neighborhood gathering spot where every drink and bite arrives thoughtfully crafted, from carefully executed espresso classics to inventive seasonal specials that keep regulars coming back. The cozy yet spacious setting—complete with a intimate patio perfect for lingering—pairs just as well with a quick caffeine boost as it does with leisurely meetings, and their small-portioned but excellent food menu strikes that ideal balance of pairing something savory alongside something sweet. What sets this place apart isn't just the quality in the cup, but the genuine care the staff brings to each visit, making it feel less like a transaction and more like visiting a knowledgeable friend who genuinely wants you to have a great experience.”

This is our favorite neighborhood spot. Have never had anything off the menu that was not delicious and carefully prepared. The seasonal drink menu items are always wonderful. My favorites are the blended frappes, but a warm drink in the cold weather is a nice treat. We usually love the homebody sandwich. I just tried the deluxe avocado toast and wow! Incredible and a new fave. Weekends are a little busy so I recommend ordering on the app so I'll be waiting for you when you get there.
Food options are excellent and priced well, though a bit on the small side. Might be a business strategy though, because getting a savory and sweet option is the way to go. Beverage menu has staples and seasonal options which are almost always a hit. Sometimes a little too sweet. Atmosphere is welcoming unless they're busy and they are understandably focused on getting orders out. Decorations/ furniture is a little dated but comes with plenty of character to make the place cozy.
I really enjoy trying new small business coffee places rather than chains. I've never heard of this coffee shop before and I just happened to be in Springfield at the Tag office and pulled them up on Google and gave them a try. They weren't busy when I arrived and I was greeted by I believe to be the owner when I walked in which was very nice. The cashier, maybe she was new, but she was very distracted by other employees and customers talking around her. She couldn't focus on me while I was giving her my order, she also wasn't fully familiar with the menu items which is fine because everyone is new at some point when having a job. She did inform me that you can't get the frozen drinks with an alternative milk like soy, coconut, or almond because their base is made of 2% which was disappointing but if that's how they make their frappes then I had to try something else. So I chose an iced white mocha instead, I ordered a pesto chicken wrap, and a muffin. The coffee itself was not good. I was hopeful and drank it, stirred it hoping to get a better taste and the coffee brand/grounds just doesn't taste good, and that's just my opinion, others may really enjoy the coffee here. The pesto wrap.... you can't taste any pesto at all, just tasted like a chicken Caesar, which was fine but I ordered it because I love pesto. Wrap by itself is $10. The muffin, expresso chocolate chip, was very moist but lacked expresso but I would definitely order again because it was still good. While I waited on my order I was very observant of the staff. There was so many people behind the counter and the area behind the counter is not a big area. Was a bit over crowded and almost all of them looked to be teenagers. I watched as they took orders from other customers and there's no personality, enthusiasm, or genuine attempt for a warm connection with the customers. The only person who was kind, attentive, knowledgeable and hard working was the owner herself. I would love to give this place another chance and try something different as they have a big menu of items to choose from. This truly boils down to the younger generation of kids who don't know how to give good genuine customer service. I have been in the service industry since I was 14 and this new generation coming up is very disappointing to society and many would agree. Their work ethic is unmatched to millennials and the ones before. Kudos to the owner as she is a hard worker and I hope business continues to thrive for her at this little coffee shop.
Passing through needed a caffeine boost to an early start. The coffee shop staff were friendly and helpful. There was a smaller cozy patio for outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating for those looking to sit back and relax while sipping on their morning Java to being able to sit and gather with a large group of friends or family. I had the cold brew and was happy with service and coffee. I also was going for low carb option and I was able to have one of their delicious breakfast sandwiches with the bagel. Would definitely swing by again. Cheers!!!
Great spot in Springfield! They have a cozy yet spacious shop, great service, scrumptious food and tasty drinks. I had a “make your own” sandwich and it was delicious. You get to choose your type of bread, meat (if desired) and cheese. I also had a seasonal drink named “Oh! Canada” and it tasted like fall. Everything is made right there on the spot and brought to your seat. I can’t commend their kind service and friendly staff enough. It’s also affordable. Went with family today for the first time and I already can’t wait for the next visit.
