Crema's Take
“Windfree Solar Cafe is a cozy, newly opened neighborhood spot in Evanston where you can sip expertly crafted drinks—think spicy dirty chais and golden milk lattes—while the genuinely warm staff makes you feel like a regular on day one. The shop strikes that rare balance of homey charm and modern polish, making it equally perfect for a quiet afternoon with a matcha tea or a family outing with kids in tow, and yes, there's actually solar power involved if you're curious about the sustainable side.”

My partner and I stopped in with our 8 year old on Windfree cafe’s opening day and it is so nice! It’s cozy and homey, but everything is brand new and modern. My dirty chai was spicy and milky. I loved it. My son ordered a raspberry bar, which we all shared. It was so tasty! Their pastries are from a local bakery in town. Very sustainable of them and that’s good bc their a solar cafe :) I guess you can get a quote on getting solar for your home there and Evanston is going all solar at some point, so good on them! Very friendly as well. I’ll definitely be back!!
This is a great place. It’s cozy and charming! The staff and the owners are incredibly nice. They have great drinks and pastries. I had the Golden Milk and my wife had a latte. Both were excellent ! I will definitely be back… this is my new spot!
Doug made an excellent rare tea sellers delicious green tea ☕️
Staff was super friendly! Tried both the earl grey tea and hot chocolate. Highly recommend stopping by!
Best coffee shop! Plus you can grab some solar while you’re there!
