Local Mom and Pop diner with exceptional prices, and lots of Alabama nostalgia. Located in the adorable downtown area to check out after eating, or before. We visit mainly for breakfast, but solid meat and 3 choices also.

This was our first time in, and I was impressed by the size of the lunch crowd. I had the fried chicken breast fillet, mac 'n' cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, field peas, and creamed corn. My Mom had the hamburger steak with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac 'n' cheese, fried okra, and field peas. We shared cornbread and rolls. Everything was absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly and took good care of us. We'll be coming back soon!

City cafe has the best breakfast, but sometimes we go at 10 so we can enjoy their catfish fingers. Great atmosphere, sweetest employees, great food, great service. You may have to wait if you go during their busy times, but it moves fast. It’s worth a little wait.

A dear friend suggested this place, or rather demanded I eat breakfast here. I am very glad they did. It's a place that you can feel has a ton of history. I ordered scrambled eggs, smoked link sausage, homefries and a biscuit with gravy. It was all delicious. But I need to call out two items. The smoked sausage was incredible. Tons of flavor and probably one of the best breakfast sausages I've ever had. But the biscuit. Look, you could tell by looking at this thing that it was going to be great. It appeared at first glance to be 87% butter. It almost tasted like cornbread a bit. God it was so good. If you find yourself in Tuscaloosa, I highly recommend you head here for breakfast. They open at 4!
