Anvil Coffee

304 W Pacific Ave, Spokane, WA

Crema's Take

Tucked into a charming red brick building with industrial charm, Anvil Coffee is where serious espresso meets a welcoming workspace—their baristas pull shots with real precision and the beans they roast in-house are genuinely superior to what else Spokane has to offer. Beyond the excellent coffee, you'll find surprisingly robust food options and a thoughtfully designed space that's perfect for settling in with your laptop while watching trains rumble by outside, making it feel like you've discovered a well-kept local secret rather than just another coffee shop.

This place Slaps. Good coffee, the barristas' pull their shots properly, they have a surprisingly large menu of food available, and the place is really nice to go for computer work in the morning.

Gave 5 stars not to mess up the rating but never got to try the coffee, drove there, no signage indicating a business, just some dark industrial buildings. A sign would be nice.

First and foremost I think the beans from Anvil are superior to any others in town. Furthermore our barista Willow was amazing. She was kind helpful and cheerful. Glad we finally found our new espresso beans and can stop shipping from Michigan

This review is about Anvil Coffee's roasted whole beans. I have for years purchased roasted whole beans from Thomas Hammer at their roasting facility. I did this to obtain coffee beans which were as recently roasted as possible. I have been looking for an alternative to Thomas Hammer for the last few months without success. A few days ago, I was at a Rocket Market and one of the employees pointed out that Anvil Coffee delivers beans that were roasted a day or two before they are delivered. (I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to preparing our morning espresso. We have a Baratza 270 grinder, a pressure release tamp, and a two boiler espresso machine.) I purchased the blend that is called Coal Forge and once I had dialed in the grind for a 21 second draw with 18 grams I pulled a shot that was better than the Thomas Hammer Columbian that I have purchased for a couple of years. Let's support this new local roaster.

It’s located in a red break building. Great coffee and a super cute design. Open space and COVID safe. You can see the train pass by and get lost in your thoughts ;).
