Rose Tree Cottage feels less like a coffee shop and more like stepping into a warm, gracious friend's home—the kind of place where the owners genuinely delight in making you feel welcomed and special. Beyond stellar coffee and tea, they're beloved for their exceptional scones and curated tea-and-bites boxes, making it the perfect spot for an unhurried afternoon or a meaningful celebration with someone you care about. Rose Tree Cottage is an absolute gem. From the moment you step through the door, you’re welcomed with warmth, charm, and genuine hospitality. The owners are truly delightful—gracious, jovial, and endlessly attentive—making you feel like a treasured guest rather than a visitor. Their tea service is exceptional. Every detail, from the perfectly brewed tea to the beautifully presented treats, reflects care, tradition, and a love for creating memorable experiences. It’s the kind of place that reminds you how special a proper afternoon tea can be. If you’re looking for an inviting, elegant, and wholeheartedly hospitable tea experience in Pasadena, Rose Tree Cottage is unmatched. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience. My partner at the time treated us here and it truly felt like a treat. I was honestly worried going in that we might get treated differently but we were treated with upmost respect, care and good humor. They were super accommodating too. Food was fantastic. Tea was just right. The scones and yorkshire pudding stood out to me the most. They approach teatime my favorite way — graceful, eclectic, genuine. I meant to write a review much sooner, better late than never!

Strongly recommend coming here for an afternoon of tea. It is a wonderful spot if you want a reason to dress up, drink delicious tea, and the best scones! Would also recommend their tea/bites boxes which comes with an assortment of delights. You cannot go wrong spending a few hours at the Rose Tree Cottage, and will never be disappointed by the amazing service. This truly is a gem in Pasadena :)

We decided to take an evening drive through Pasadena and came across a beautifully decorated house for Christmas, with lots of "open" signs that piqued our curiosity, so we decided to knock. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman with a hint of an English accent, who has been running this place since the 70s. He’s transformed the first floor of his home into a tea room and another room with a variety of traditional English desserts. It’s a pity we arrived just before closing, but we’ll definitely be back! We bought a pack of scones (10 for $25) — they were so fresh, and following his preparation tips, they turned out absolutely delicious with jam 😌. Big thanks for the detailed explanation on how to bake them! He even repeated the baking time and temperature just to make sure we got it right. As a charming tradition, there’s a dress code for the tea service — ladies are required to wear dresses with hats, and gentlemen in suits. There’s also a lovely backyard, and parking is not an issue at all.

I took my Mother to Rose Tree Cottage to celebrate her birthday. We had a very memorable time! The scones are SO delicious...Be sure to buy some from their shop before you leave! And don't forget the homemade jams...The best!
