Crema's Take

This Westbrook institution does breakfast and lunch with real care, where you can grab a smooth cold brew alongside unexpected morning treats like a 6am BBQ sandwich or an artichoke and pesto melt. The pastries here actually shine—think moist blueberry muffins and bagels with smoked salmon that nail both technique and flavor—making it feel like a neighborhood gathering spot that takes the details seriously. It's the kind of place where locals know to arrive early, whether you're fueling up before work or lingering with family on a weekend morning.

A wonderful place to stop by before work in the morning, the menu has so many amazing options and getting a BBQ sandwich at 6am is exactly what I needed🙏

We were looking for a bite and we found this place, the bagel with smoked salmon has an amazing flavor. 10/10.

Stopped in on a Saturday morning. Ordered a decaf iced latte and it was very good. Smooth not bitter. Blueberry muffin was moist and had nice blueberry sweetness. Small carrot mango smoothie was made with carrot, mango, banana and orange juice. One of the better smoothies I have had. Plain bagel toasted with maple raisin walnut cream cheese made in house. Boiled then baked like a NYC style bagel. Steady stream of patrons, line moved quickly but orders slow down with in house and take out pick ups. Dining area clean and moderate amount of seating.

I’m really disappointed with my recent experience at The Works Café. I placed an order online 45 minutes in advance to make sure it would be ready by the time I got there. When I arrived, not only was my order not ready, but the staff didn’t give me any estimate of how much longer it would take. I stepped outside for a quick 5-minute call, and when I returned to ask for a refund, I was told my order had magically just been completed—and that they had “called my name,” which I never heard. When I picked up my sandwich, the staff member made a snarky comment under her breath about me to other waiting customers, which I found totally unprofessional. When I confronted her, she brushed it off and simply said she had “called my order,” ignoring the fact that I shouldn’t have had to wait at all for something I ordered nearly an hour earlier. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me here either. If they offer the option to pick up at a certain time, they should be able to honor that. I understand they might be busy, but there’s no point in offering online order timing if it’s consistently unreliable. I won’t be ordering ahead here again, and honestly, I’m reconsidering coming back altogether. UPDATE: To top it all off, my order was incorrect—it was missing avocado and red onions even though I was charged for them.

We were here on Tuesday. The sandwiches are good and the tuna salad ordered for my daughter was good too. The capuchino was decent. But the best of the lot was the Artichocke and Pesto melt sandwich
