Crema's Take
“This nostalgic 90s-themed coffee bar nails the cozy, retro aesthetic with vintage decor, a working pay phone, and curated books you can borrow—all while serving legitimately excellent espresso that even coffee snobs respect. The passionate owner-operators create a genuinely warm, homey atmosphere that feels less like a trendy cafe and more like a beloved living room where regulars linger, families feel welcome, and every detail reflects care.”

Hands down the best coffee shop I have ever been to! Super retro, cutesy decor, homey, warm space. It brought me back to being a kid again. Guess what? They actually have a working PAY PHONE! Say what! The owner was absolutely superb. I learned a lot about coffee in just the 15-20 mins I was there. She was so informative. Her patio to sit at out-back is to die for. I am just so in love I could go on and on! This is a must see and your lifetime coffee shop.
If you know me, you know I’m a bit of a coffee snob and I don’t say that lightly 😅. So when I tell you that The Nook Café & Bakery in Gilbert absolutely delivers, I mean it. The atmosphere feels different in the best way possible. It’s warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated without feeling overdone. And the coffee? It’s exceptional. You can genuinely taste the care behind every cup. Tawnee is fantastic, you can tell she truly loves the craft and artistry of coffee. It’s not just about making a drink, it’s about creating an experience. The attention to detail, the balance of flavors, and the consistency are things you don’t always find, even at specialty shops. The Nook doesn’t just serve coffee, they respect it. Pair that with their bakery offerings and a space that makes you want to stay longer than you planned, and you’ve got something special right here in Gilbert. If you appreciate quality coffee, a welcoming vibe, and people who are passionate about what they do, this spot will not disappoint. Definitely a new favorite!
This is a fun little coffee bar with a eighties/nineties vibe super fun atmosphere with old nostalgic items, books that they can arrange for you to borrow. And even Bob Barker, playing on the T. V the coffee is smooth. not acidic or bitter, and she is always willing to tweak it to how you like it. Definitely an experience, You need to try a hidden gem for sure.
The Nook Cafe & Bakery, a 90s kid’s dream cafe. I had the pleasure of being served by Tawnee, one of the owners, and you can tell they are passionate about their mission — creating great coffee in an atmosphere that reminds you of simpler times. My wife and I both ordered the Yvonne (iced); a latte inspired by a French almond croissant. On the sweeter side, but to be expected! The cafe features VHS tapes to watch, books to read, and a working pay phone! If you want a coffee shop that has 90s vibes, feels more tangible, and less digital, give them a visit!
Great cafe stop in Gilbert — friendly staff, solid coffee & treats We were already out on a walk in Gilbert, saw The Nook Cafe & Bakery, and decided to stop in and check it out. Super glad we did. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and everything we ordered was great: a cookie, a smoothie, a latte, and a classic black drip coffee. The latte was smooth, the drip coffee was well-brewed, and the cookie hit the spot. All in, it was $17, which felt like a great value for the quality. If you’re looking for a Gilbert coffee shop with great service and tasty baked goods, I’d definitely recommend The Nook Cafe & Bakery.
