The Caring Cup
2211 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM
Crema's Take
“This nearly 30-year Albuquerque institution excels at slow, deliberate coffee craftsmanship, featuring locally-roasted espresso drinks alongside fresh pastries and light fare that make it a genuine neighborhood gathering spot. While experiences vary, the cafe shines brightest when its warmest staff members are behind the counter—those who greet regulars with genuine smiles and create the kind of welcoming atmosphere that justifies its name. If you're seeking an espresso-focused space where you can linger with a thoughtfully-made drink and a fresh local pastry, this gem rewards a visit, though you'll want to plan around its earlier closing hours.”

i didn’t expect the coffee to be good, didn’t make extra from home today. the female staff, as indicated in previous reviews are rude and smug. i understand it might not be the most pleasant job experience or expect any kind of acknowledgment. seems i was asking too much when i asked for an espresso. sorry i took you away from your iphone. i will just make my own at home from now on.
I’ve been in the hospital dealing with a high risk pregnancy and all I wanted today was a nice drink to lift my spirits and I go down with my boyfriend to get a coffee and ask them if they accepted Apple Pay. To which one of the workers replies “no we only have the machine there that says Apple Pay for fun” and is making rude comments, being loud, laughing, and saying rude things with her co worker. How unfortunate and unprofessional to work in a hospital where people could use a little sympathy and kindness and to still choose to be so rude and hateful. How embarrassing,
The ladies at the "Coffee Cart" are the highlight of my morning. They are personable, kind, and always greet me with a smile!
Why does the Caring Cup close so early?? Research staff at the med school work til after 5 pm often and it used to be nice to go over there and take a break in the afternoon and have a good coffee. Neither locations nor the Healthy Heart bistro do anything for HSC staff working afternoons and into early evening at this institution.
This cafe is a hidden gem, and has been around for close to three decades. Fresh, local pastries, bagels, and burritos compliment a variety of handcrafted beverages ranging from locally-roasted espresso to Red Bull infused with a range of flavors. The staff are a great and friendly team that all take pride in every drink. They even have a loyalty card!
