As a New Yorker living in the Missoula Valley for over 20 years, the quest for the perfect bagel is always toward the top of my list, especially after Bagels on Broadway peaced out of town. We’d read about the Basecamp and their shipping in of bagels of from NYC, and knew we needed to see what it was about. We popped in on a Tuesday (Veteran’s Day) at 9am and walked right up to counter. I ordered a salmon platter on an everything (their last one of the day!), and my husband got the same but on a sesame. He also ordered an oat scone and an Americano, while I got a drip. Coffees were fantastic—beans supplied by Black Coffee Co. (my fave place in town) with the drip being brewed perfectly and my husband’s Americano satisfying him greatly. The bagel platters were, by far, the best breakfast deal in Missoula—$8 for open faced bagels with an awesome amount of salmon. The bagel’s texture was impeccable—the right outer “crunch” with the greatest inner chew. It broke off just right at the bite, ensuring no toppings were lost in the process. Bagel flavors were subtle but delicious. Husband enjoyed the oat scone too! Service was friendly and quick.

I really wanted to like this place but the coffee and the service dropped it down to three stars. First, the auburn haired barista was rude. She was short with her responses and rolled her eyes at every question, as if it was inconveniencing her. She wasn’t friendly at all. The pistachio lattes she made was just OK, didn’t really taste like pistachio. The barista also made us feel kind of stupid in her questioning about size and espresso selection. Looking very impatient when we took the 5 seconds to decide. I could maybe understand if there was a long line but there wasn’t. The location was nice though. Clean and new. I hope your experience is better than mine.

It's definitely my favorite coffee shop in missoula. The coffee and pastries were absolutely spectacular. The service was impeccable, and they were very friendly, very clean atmosphere and many options for drinks and food. Highly recommended, if you're in the area, lots of free parking outside.
