Ordered takeout in order a side of sweet potato fries. It’s really sad that you get this tiny order of sweet potato fries for $5. Potatoes are cheap so I would think you would get a reasonably sized order. For the price, the small container should be close to full. Turkey burger was disappointing too. Used to be like a real homemade patty but now it’s some flat, generic, tasteless turkey patty. I used to be a regular at BW but sadly, I rarely go there anymore. Between the change in menu, change in food prep and portion sizes it has become very disappointing.

We celebrated my son and fiancé the night before they were to be wed. Janine and her staff went above and beyond to make this experience the very best. The atmosphere was relaxing and elegant. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The food was delicious and our guests loved having choices. It truly was the perfect venue for what we were wanting to celebrate these two very special loved ones. Thank you again for the best night.

Came here with a friend in search of something “healthy but home-comforting,” which felt like a reasonable expectation. To their credit, the staff was genuinely very kind and happy to answer our questions, and the manager stopped by multiple times to check on us, which we really appreciated. Service-wise? Gold star. Now… the food. I ordered the blackened chicken Caesar wrap with a side of street corn. A quick public service announcement: do not order the street corn if you’re expecting anything remotely resembling traditional street corn. It comes smothered in a mysterious chipotle sauce that somehow manages to taste like the bottom of the dish pit. Truly impressive in the worst way. I wouldn’t even give it to a baby—and not because they wouldn’t like it, but because I’m pretty sure that would qualify as abuse. As for the wrap, despite asking for extra dressing, it arrived with absolutely none. So if dry tortillas and vibes are your thing, this might be the wrap for you. My friend ordered the Cobb chicken salad and reported that the best part of the entire dish was the pickled onions… which honestly tells you everything you need to know. The lava cake is heavily marketed as something that would be, you know… hot. Bold choice, considering “lava” is literally in the name. Instead, it arrived cold. Be prepared to be done smiling for the rest of the day, because this thing will leave your teeth black. Ironically, this is the one dessert I would give to a child—if your goal is to ensure they never ask for dessert again. One bite of this would scare them straight.

Where to start…first of all Janine Jones is amazing!! She is the Event Director for BW and did a phenomenal job with our event. I was the Event Coordinator in 2025 for a local HOG Chapter and was referred to Janine by a close friend. So the event I planned was a Holiday Masquerade Party for 50 people. I was able to create a red carpet entry, decorate the tables, create a candy buffet, have a magician come entertain, wear themed attire, and last but not least have a drink menu catered to the event. The staff was amazing and we did not have one single complaint! The menu options were spot on, the drinks were raved about (by the men mostly) as they ordered more than one!! I cannot give enough stars for the service and accommodations made for us!! A huge shout out to Janine and her fabulous staff!! Keep up the great work!!

The overall experience at Black Walnut Café was pretty cool. I really liked that there are a couple of different ways you can order, which felt unique and convenient. It made the process fun and a little different than your usual dining spot. The prices are also super affordable, which is always a plus, and I love that there are different seating areas so you can choose where you want to sit depending on your mood. Walking right in and finding a spot was easy, and I thought that part of the setup was great. Where it fell short for me was the food. I really wanted to love this place, but I found the flavors to be pretty bland and not very exciting. It was not bad, but it just didn’t stand out. Since some of my clients have been asking about more brunch spots, my husband and I tried it out to see if it might be a place I could bring people to. Unfortunately, it did not quite meet the expectation I had in mind. That said, I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. The atmosphere is relaxed, the setup is unique, and the experience itself was pleasant. For me personally, the food just wasn’t it, so I am not sure if I will be back. I truly wish it had been more flavorful because I really wanted to love this place.
