Espurresso Cat Cafe
1014 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS
Crema's Take
“Espurresso Cat Cafe pairs genuinely excellent specialty coffee with an interactive cat sanctuary where you can book time in the Purrlor Room to hang out with playful felines (with proceeds supporting the Lawrence Humane Society). The cozy-yet-modern space strikes that rare balance where the coffee stands on its own merits while the cats and large windows create an irresistibly charming atmosphere for lingering with friends or solo.”

I absolutely adore Espurresso Cat Cafe. You can sit by the large windows and watch the cats, or pay a small fee (which all goes towards Lawrence Humane Society), to go into the Purrlor Room and interact with the cats. They even have a resident cat named Syd who is super sweet! The drinks are tasty. The staff is knowledgeable about the cats in their care. I've had their scones in the past, and it was very good.
Lattes with extra floof! Espurresso is cozy yet modern, spotless, and full of charm. The cats were playful, snoozy, and curious, and you can even book time to hang out with them. The coffee is excellent, the pumpkin scone was a treat, and the Pouncer’s Latte had just enough chili kick to wake you up without overwhelming. Schrödinger’s Catnip was a clever, flavorful surprise too. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the whole place helps local cats find homes. Go early if you want lunch or snacks because they go fast. A fun, relaxing stop that will leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat.
We enjoyed our visit to this cat cafe! You can order your drinks and sit and watch the cats or pay $10 to go in and play with them. The staff was super friendly and told us about the cat's and their unique personalities. A super sweet spot to visit if you love cats!
I absolutely love this place. The drinks (a typical range of coffee, tea and the like) are tasty and the staff super friendly. But of course the main draws are the cats. Book ahead to spend time in the cats' room, hanging out and getting to know the cafe's resident feline and guests from the Lawrence Humane Society. One of the cats we were petting and playing with got adopted while we were there, and I think two more were finding a new home as we were leaving. I honestly don't know when I've left a cafe in such a radically improved mood. If the concept appeals to you at all, then put this on your must do list.
The drinks here are phenomenal, most cat cafes I’ve been to are pretty well packed or simple beverages but this place could easily just be a cafe. The cats slept the whole time we were there so I’d recommend maybe not going around midday as cats tend to nap midday but I didn’t think about that when booking our time slot. If we come back I’d honestly be content to sit at the window with a drink and just watch, the cat room is a little tight.
