Such a cozy spot with great vibes and friendly staff. The cappuccino was honestly amazing and delicious. It’s the kind of café you want to come back to, whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or hanging out for a while. Definitely one of my new favorite coffee spots. Highly recommend!
i used to like this place but idk whether I can support the business anymore in good conscience. i don't need a latte. i hope the employees can find better working circumstances. check out la strada if you like baked goods and good humans. Michael the owner there is humble and kind. cuz at black cap it's 10% surcharge so the owner doesn't have to pay their employees more? the owner doesn't profit enough from a $7 latte they literally just heat up from a carton? so customers are forced to compensate the underpaid employees? on top of sky high prices? seems greed has gotten to the owner's head. Shame on her. no wonder their locations have had numerous strikes and walk outs. maybe I'll check back in 6 months from now but jeez weird vibes in there today. sorry to say... edit post reply: well aware why the surcharge is there, hence the review written above... check out 'profit sharing.' That way employees are still incentivised to sell more without expressly charging customers on top of products purchased. it just would mean maybe you have to cut one of your vacations a day short. might be worth it if you care
Hidden gem off the beaten path. Location is an old train depot so very historic ambience. While we didn’t try food, sandwiches looked great. The tea and coffee were delicious.
If you’re looking for a cozy, Hallmark-movie-type vibe, Black Cap Coffee & Bakery in Westbury/Stowe is an absolute gem! Nestled right by the Amtrak train station, the location feels charmingly picturesque and peaceful—perfect for a relaxing escape from the city. We stopped by for the first time during a trip from Montreal and Boston, and the experience was delightful! The staff was amazing—so friendly and welcoming. The cashier went out of her way to give us great recommendations, which made our visit even better. We ordered: • A chocolate croissant (delicious, though I wish I’d asked to have it warmed up—totally my fault!). • Turkey, egg, and cheese sandwiches x3, which were fresh and flavorful. • Lattes that were smooth, creamy, and hit the spot perfectly. The inside was super cozy, and the ambiance added to the charm. This location stands out as my favorite in Vermont—it’s farther from the hustle and bustle, and the atmosphere both inside and out is simply beautiful. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone in the area or just passing through. A must-visit spot for coffee lovers and foodies alike!
Found another Black Cap Coffee shop, this time in Waterbury. Had to stop in after our great experience at the one in Stowe. This one was just as good! The coffee is delicious (pumpkin lattes, maple lattes - yum!) and the Chai scone was absolutely delicious!!! I liked this scone as much as the maple croissant I had at the shop in Stowe, and I wouldn’t have thought that possible! Also, great atmosphere in small converted train station.
