Cartel Roasting

Crema's Take
“Cartel Roasting's Phoenix location is a compact, intentionally curated space where espresso excellence and thoughtfully crafted pour overs take center stage, backed by consistently kind baristas who prioritize quality over volume. The single-size cup format and carefully edited menu reflect their commitment to doing fewer things exceptionally well, though it's worth knowing their portions run petite and their inventory is selective—perfect if you're seeking a focused, deliberate coffee experience over convenience. It's a genuine neighborhood spot for lingering over excellent coffee and pastries, especially if you can embrace their less-is-more philosophy.”

I love Cartel and this compact spot is no different than their other locations. The baristas are always kind and swift in service. The coffee is S-tier, and the baked goods are tasty. I'm not always in the area but when I am I make sure to drop by. Highly recommended.
The coffee wasn’t bad but that’s where the good stops. My wife and I went in for a coffee and tea. The sizes are only one size and it is VERY small. They didn’t have any regular coffee, only decaf. They only had whole milk, no mocha for that option of coffee if you wanted to order that. I would think a “roaster” would be the last to run out of coffee. And finally the price, $14 for these 2 shot sized coffees. Definitely will not be going back to this place.
My wife and I really enjoyed our time here. The staff was very nice and accommodating. My cappuccino was great and my wife loved her matcha latte. The seating was very comfortable and relaxing. I highly recommend this coffee shop. I only wish that “Cartel” served soy and/or almond milk. They only offer oatmeal and cashew milk.
Definitely great coffee. Overpriced? Yes for sure. One size , I get it, however small is not even in the size of Starbucks tall, smaller than that. Most importantly, came with my family at 8.35 am, highly likely we are first people on a Saturday, the guy at the cashier and who made the coffee was a face off and rude. Don’t work man, seriously. I’ll come back cuz I prefer to get smth other than Starbucks but not when you are there. And I tipped :( kindly asked which one was the extra hot one ( cuz didn’t pay attention) he says , look at the cups , written there. Just wanted to prove one of my claims.
This was my first time at this Cartel location. Their coffee never disappoints! I loved this space more than expected. It’s close to Target and many other shops, so skip Starbucks and support local. You won’t regret trying their signature crafted drinks.
