Philz Coffee

Crema's Take
“Philz Coffee in Evanston draws a devoted crowd for its creative specialty drinks and welcoming atmosphere, though their coffee approach is decidedly non-traditional—skip the espresso-based drinks here and opt instead for their signature cold brew creations like the pistachio latte or their chai preparations, which pair well with pastries and light bites. It's a genuinely dog-friendly spot with plenty of space to linger, making it ideal for meetings or settling in with a book, though be prepared that their chai and specialty drinks lean toward delicate, sometimes subtle flavor profiles that won't satisfy those seeking bold, concentrated coffee or spice.”

The worst coffee I’ve ever had in my life. And anyone giving this more than 1 star is NOT a coffee drinker. Everything is “ cold brew or ground house coffee” no espresso. Very watered down. 0/10 How can a coffee shop have no espresso? What a scam. It should be illegal honestly lmao and they charged me almost 8 bucks for this garbage. I had to get a refund immediately.
Got an advetised pistachio latte and a chai latte. The pistachio drink was good. The chai latte was awful. It was some sort of loose grounds, a mint leaf, and watery milk? Good place to sit and drink though.
Why do you put mint in your chai? I never asked for mint and was not told that it would be put in. The chai tasted horrible and was so watered down, it had no chai flavor and just tasted like iced mint water. Like ewww. I would have been less upset if they had asked first, maybe it was the barista I don’t know. Check your staff. I could have been allergic to mint!!! Also mint and chai DON’T MIX! And for the price of $6 I’m not coming back not was I impressed at all with quality for money’s worth. And get cups for iced drinks DONT use the same cup.
First of all, the coffee is excellent. ☕ The carrot muffin is also very tasty. 🥕 And most importantly, it's incredibly pet-friendly, which I absolutely love. 🐾 I highly recommend it! 🌟
The Plant Powered Sandwich is pretty good. Its very hot so allow it to air out. The contents inside (plant sausage and JUST EGG) will slip out while eating so it can be a little tricky. The sandwich itself is also pricey at $9.25, but it was worth a try. Coffee is a little bitter so best served with cream and sugar. -1 star for value and eh plain black coffee, but nice service and seating.
