Zinc Cafe & Bar

I tried Zinc summer 2024 after reading great reviews and have been meaning to share my review since. The food was subpar and not a good value. Our burrito had some lettuce pieces that looked dark/slimy. I also had an unfortunate experience where I got scratched by sharp plastic on the toilet seat while using the restroom which was concerning at the time. My concerns were acknowledged by the staff, but their overall hospitality could have been better. When I told a friend about the negative experience, they said Zinc used to be a neighborhood staple but has gone downhill since the ownership change. I wouldn’t return.

We met up for lunch at Zinc. You order at the counter and find your seats outside in the large shaded patios. The food came out pretty quickly. Food was hit or miss. The Caesar salad with steak was very good. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The chilaquiles bowl was a miss. The salsa was on only one side of the bowl so it was a bit dry and tasteless. It looked pretty good but was pretty unimpressive after the first bite. The omelet was huge but had way too much bacon and not enough of everything else.

Amazing place. They are known for breakfast and lunch, but we got surprised they are now open for dinner. Live music, delicious food, reasonable prices. As always they deliver.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a design that encourages lingering over a meal or drink. Avocado toast, some maple pecan something or another cookie + an incredible iced latte. Atmosphere really sold it for me during a quick brunch visit before the beach and it was perfect. The avocado toast was *chefs kiss* real cute. Bathroom was small but clean.
