Crema's Take

This Lexington neighborhood gem excels at curation over volume, with an acclaimed house-made pimento cheese spread that strikes an impressive balance of garlic-forward flavor, plus a carefully sourced selection of authentic Italian meats that's earned loyal devotion from locals. The hospitable staff and lovely atmosphere make it a destination worth seeking out, though fair warning—this isn't the spot for quick delivery orders, as quality clearly takes priority over speed.

If you can't get your orders out in a reasonable time don't be on delivery apps, simple. Waste of my time to have to stand in here 30 min for 2 God Damn sandwiches. Pathetic.

If you have no reason to go to The Mousetrap, go to get their Original Pimento Cheese spread. Its amazing, the perfect blend of flavors! A touch garlic forward makes it a winner, especially when compared to the bland goop that many other businesses sell. We found that it not only could be eaten chilled as is typical but also was terrific as a savory cheesy topping when melted on bread in the broiler. Additionally, the staff at The Mousetrap are personable and helpful. The gift shop offers great gift options for home and entertaining, even if the gift might only be for yourself!

This place is really lovely. I live down the road and stopped by with a friend, as we were looking to find cute restaurants that were in our neighborhood. The staff were extremely hospitable, and were so kind to let us try a few samples! The pimento cheese (while I am not a pimento person) is great. We ended up getting sandwiches and coffee. The little shop they have curated is also so cute! Full of high quality wares, good things to fill a gift basket with. Some of it is pricey, but that's pretty normal for shops like this. The seating area is very well-designed, too.

Since my family moved to Lexington from the east coast, we have exclusively used The Mousetrap in the Lansdowne Shoppes as our source of authentic Italian meats. Since taking over as manager Chris has continued to uphold The Mousetrap's decades old tradition of high standards in authenticity, quality and taste with his superb imported Italian meats such as the Genoa salami, sopressata, prosciutto and Italian sausage that Chris and his staff prepared for us recently. Once again The Mousetrap played an important role in one of our family's traditional Italian feasts, this one celebrating the birthdays of my son and I. As always, The Mousetrap's service and packaging was also impeccable. Many thanks to Chris for continuing to bring first class service and the authentic Taste of Italy to Lexington!

I can be difficult to please and I find that I'd rather have my fingers broken off than go to many "beloved" restaurants. That being said I was very very impressed by today's visit to The Mousetrap. At the advice of an employee I tried the pastrami with swiss on light rye and the wild mushroom soup. I was impressed at the quality of the meat and cheese on the sandwich, both were flavorful but the pastrami was especially good and very tender. The soup was fantastic. Rich, creamy and earthy. Everything a mushroom soup should be. I whole heartedly recommend this establishment to anyone who likes an independent deli style eatery.
