Wake and Late
525 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA
Crema's Take
“Wake and Late earns its name by opening later than typical coffee shops while serving a tightly curated menu that clearly prioritizes quality over variety—their Double Americano is bold enough to turn heads, and the crunchy bacon breakfast burritos with soft flour tortillas and pickled onions have earned devoted fans, though portions can feel modest for the price. This is the kind of place where a small menu signals real specialization, perfect for when you want coffee and a thoughtfully made breakfast that feels a bit more interesting than the usual grab-and-go fare.”

I like places with small menus cuz it just means they specialize in the food they serve. Toh l'd like to say I'd give this a 4.5 stars. To start off with I've had churros in Spain and ceviche in Mexico and tacos from ave 26. The palette here is different from most places that serve burritos. This place has a vibe of like urth cafe and probably the same audience as urth cafe If you're coming in for a big burrito, you'll probably be left with wanting more. I will say the ingredients tasted like good quality ingredients. It doesn't have that oily greasy fatty taste in burritos. To my palette this is one of the best burritos I've had. The sauces tasted good too but I felt like I didn't need any sauce with mine. I also love that the service is amazing. MJ was very kind and welcoming. It's always a great combo for me when I like the food and the service. It really makes me want to come back as a customer. Good vibes with the workers.
First time visiting of the Ex-Star News building. Love the Double Americano but bit strong for me. Burrito with steak was savory and great combination with pickled onions and peppers.
Food: crunchy bacon breakfast burrito with crispy hash browns inside. The flour tortilla is soft and has a nice chewy texture to it. I do wish the burrito is bigger for the $18 price they charged. Service: quick and easy order process at register and pick up on the side. Atmosphere: plenty of interior space with lots of tables and chairs.
Good but burrito was so small. I paid over $20 for the tiniest burrito of my life! blah blah blah gluten free wraps are tinier I KNOW, but when u are charged more for them yet way less fits into them … seems like maybe a little price cut would make sense ? maybe I’M the sucker. I’ll probably go back. But size matters 💋
I am visiting from out of town and I noticed a love/hate relationship from the reviews. I decided to give it a try. The bacon burrito was delicious with plenty of crunchy bacon, cheese, egg, and avocado. It tasted fresh and made to order. I would definitely recommend it. There are many comments about the prices. This place does not ask for tips (refreshing) and the price includes the food and the service. For about $20 (in California), they are not a "value meal", they are a quality meal. Don't let the negative comments sway you.
