Crema's Take

Poplar Pastries is a charming neighborhood gem in Wilmette that's clearly won hearts with genuinely exceptional baked goods—think buttery biscuits that locals call the best they've ever had, cinnamon scrolls that disappear fast, and hand pies bursting with real ingredients like spinach, artichoke, and bacon cheddar. The owner's warmth extends to furry friends, making it a genuinely welcoming spot for families and their dogs to grab coffee and pastries that taste like they were made with real care, not just speed. It's small and sometimes runs low on inventory, but that's part of its charm—everything feels fresh, made-to-order, and worth the trip whether you're local or coming in from the city.

My family just devoured cinnamon scrolls, a strawberry scone (studded with big chunks of 🍓), and 2 hand pies (spinach/artichoke + bacon cheddar). So delicious! Plus, the owner gave my pup a treat & put out fresh water for him. Such a gem in the neighborhood- improve your day & stop by!

Popped in the other day. Got a biscuit with raspberry jam and butter. Sounds simple, but it was incredibly delicious. I’ll be going back again to to try the cinnamon roll that looked great too.

Lovely little shop with delicious baked goods! They just opened so didn’t have espresso ready yet so I am excited to back to get a latte too! Ok came back for a latte several times and it is always on point! I’ve also tried as many hand pies as I can because they are so delicious!

Noticed they were open and decided to pop in. Not a ton of inventory but what they did have looked good. We got an apple turnover and a ginger cookie - both fresh and full of flavor. Next time, I would try a cardamom bun. They also have coffee and tea, but basically everything is to go. Great to have another bakery back in that spot!
