Cajun Kitchen Cafe

6025 Calle Real, Goleta, CA

Crema's Take

This beloved Goleta diner delivers solid Cajun comfort food with a particular strength in their shrimp and sausage grits, making it a go-to spot for anyone craving a taste of New Orleans near UCSB. While the coffee takes a backseat to the food and the tight parking can be chaotic, the fast service and family-friendly vibe keep locals coming back, though you'll want to arrive early to snag a seat in this perpetually crowded favorite. Fair warning: their pastries like beignets and French toast can be hit-or-miss on execution, so stick with their hearty breakfast and lunch mains where the kitchen shines.

Good food, not so great coffee. It's very much a diner. I didn't find the seating comfortable, it's very crowded. Clearly a popular place. We enjoyed the food. Parking was chaotic.

Why be stingy on a simple breakfast item like French toast. This was one of the most dry French toast I’ve had. They likely only brushed the egg wash on so I was basically having brioche toast with powdered sugar.

Not a slice of New Orleans, but the only, and thus the best, shrimp and sausage gritz found in the UCSB area. Overall, a solid diner experience. The place is a bit old, but is clean. Menu has gluten-free options, if that is important to you. We'll be back.

This place used to be Rustys back in 2008! Im glad it's Cajun Kitchen now. Tried Cajun Kitchen and for the most part the food was good. However, the beignet was not soft and fluffy like I've had at other establishments. While it didn't bother me, someone in my party that does not eat any seafood and notedthat some of the fried items had a hint of seafood taste. It may have been fried in same oil as seafood items. The pork chop on the other hand was delicious and bumped this review from 3 stars to 4 stars. On the drive back from Santa Barbara to LA the food didn't sit well with me. It could have been quality/freshness of ingredients went a little down. It was great for nostalgia, just not as great as I remember it.
